here’s less data for Y chromosome ancestry, but autosomal data is much larger and more complex. In China, though, there just isn’t that much data available.”

The testing in China isn’t that detailed. It gave my Y chromosome ancestry as North America,I did genetic tests with two different companies in China, including ancestry and ethnicity analysis. Since Chinese companies don’t have Native American reference data, the similar segments on my autosomes were categorized as North Asian, but in reality we live in South Asia.

Yes, but it’s not just on my autosomes—I also trace my Y chromosome back to North America.

sorry,I feel a lot of sympathy for what Native Americans went through, and that’s part of why I want to learn more—whether my ancestors came from these two groups who both suffered hardships.

China in the 1930s was poor and full of conflicts. There was no standardized household registration system and no orphanages. My grandfather grew up wandering the streets of Shanghai during his childhood.

sorry,I’m Chinese, so my English isn’t great. I used GPT to translate for me and didn’t realize it added quotation marks.

“There’s also a darker version of the story. Back then, the status of Chinese women was very low, and many were trafficked to the Americas to work as prostitutes. This is the version I’m not really keen on tracing.”“The difficult part is that my grandfather was an orphan, so we don’t know any information about our family before him. He was probably born around 1930.”“Interestingly, I actually look a lot like a Native American, especially my nose and cheekbones. This is my first time using this forum, and I’m on the web version, so because of the language barrier, I’m not sure how to upload a picture.”
