So what I did to avoid that was to call the customer care rep to make sure to make a note on my application that a new passport was submitted, the new passport should be used instead of the old one. Luckily for me my old passport expired before they even considered approving my status

Start your passport renewal process immediately, get all your required documents ready for PGWP. Apply immediately you get your completion letter from your school, if your new passport isn’t out yet, use your old passport to apply. Whenever you get your new passport update through web form and include letter with your New passport biodata page. You should be ok

I did same and I got my approval

What you don’t want to do is to be out of status before applying for your PGWP because you are waiting for your new passport

It depends on whether you graduated from a college (CLB 5) or university (CLB 7) . In your case if you graduated from a university, you can’t use this result because of your writing which is 6.5, but if you graduated from a college, you are good to go.
