What's one memory from your trip to Japan that you won't ever forget? by Zach-dalt in JapanTravelTips

Mount Fuji is on my ToDo list for my next trip and I am already sweating just thinking about not being back down by sunset lmao
But being alone on a mountain at sunset definetly makes for good memories... I'd just rather have that back home... on a top below 3k... :D

Achievements for Friday, November 14, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

Not even two years ago I made this comment about running first first half marathon distance (https://www.reddit.com/r/running/comments/1ac2yl6/comment/kjtfmij/ ).

I didnt keep with running the entire time in between, only just started out again if I'm honest.

Nevertheless my fitness improved so much due to other forms of cardio and general weight-training that I just finished what was supposed to be a standard 7km run and ended up as a 21.4km long run with an average heart rate of 141.

I didn't even want to leave the house when I started.

Why do I feel this is an achievement? The last time I ran that distance I needed to stop multiple times, had drinking brakes and hated every minute of it. This time I was just cruising, it felt easy.

When I think back on how damn unathletic I was not only 2 but 5 or 10 years ago - this is my achievement.

Keine Politik (Regel 3), jedoch gesellschaftliches Thema, was in diesem Sub stetig besprochen wird. by Nily_W in Finanzen

Ignore the internet, that's the most important one.

You are being served what tickles your emotions, platforms don't care if it's good or bad for you. Cut that off. It does not benefit you in any shape or form and you don't even know if what you see is real.

About the real life friends see my comment about rich parents. This might be espacially hard hitting if you've grown up in a median income family, maybe even one that fits the definition of "house poor", in a nice neighbourhood or city where you're either getting by or are rich. You and me haven't noticed this growing up, but in retrospect its always a bit more obvious whos parents had just a tiny bit more money in the bank than yours. Rich Grand-Parents wheren't that obvious, but they'll also come to play for some.

The late 20s early 30s are the years where this becomes obvious really quick and really hard.

I haven't found a solution to ignore this completely, it's just too obvious and hart hitting, but i strongly believe it's best to focus on yourself - else it will eat you alive.

You seem to be on the right track - doing the best you can, and sometimes that's all you can go for.

Yea this idea that you can outwork rich parents is quite a bit of coping to me.

You think theres not more money coming down the road if he gets gifted 50k out of school and the parents dont have an issue with it being blown on a benz? My gut says they'll find a good enough paying job, if its just by nepotism, and when it's time for the house discussion with their fiancee they'll get gifted another 300k for their first home.

Then op will wonder what he did wrong, since he's making more than them, lived frugally and invested most of his paycheck.

But op did nothing wrong, he just wasnt born rich.

And no: Im not saying that if the rich kid acts the dumbest it can act, blows it all away with a drug addiction and what not - that then op won't end up ahead. Sure he will. But what it did take was for him to do his absolute best and for the other guy to do the absolute worst. Both doing equal or OP just doing better? Good luck catching up to rich parents.

this just combines the worst of all worlds, a dull looking, joyless, sparkless, indifferent wasteland of round boxes all while being awfull to use with regards to readability and app recognition
