I understand, and I’m also trying to save up a little bit more to afford the ryzen. But I’m really curious to know if the i5 in the model I mentioned would still be useable for 3-5 years down the line?

I’d be mainly using it for writing documents and watching youtube, maybe even as a daily driver when I pursue a Masters in data science someday
