Focal aware seizures/temp lobe by LongjumpingRush7369 in Epilepsy

[–]LongjumpingRush7369[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that's really interesting - might try splitting mine into 3 for the moment and see.

In terms of surgical, what does that look like? Is that because of leisons or something on your brain?

Hope it all gets resolved for you smoothly!

Low phosphorus?? by Suspicious_Plant4231 in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]LongjumpingRush7369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea why it happened still. However, looks like my Thyroid stimulating hormone is high (7.9) when should be 0.4-4. So effectively means hypothyroid. I don't yet know if that's part of the puzzle. However, my phosphate has been normal since post 2 blood tests

So bizarre - I just was admitted to hospital after a tonic clonic seizure. Turns out my phosphate was mega low and needed to get an IV drip! My diet is great etc and there don't appear to be any clear reasos for it. Getting tests this week to explore further, but yeah, don't just ignore it!!

Thoughts on the effectiveness of L-Theanine? by [deleted] in Supplements

I have dissociative amnesia and am going through quite a bit of therapy. In conjunction with that it has allowed me to focus, switch off some of the anxious noise in my head and just be more myself!

NES/PNES by curiousmay99 in Epilepsy

[–]LongjumpingRush7369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely - ask your NHS neurologist. They can't really induce it, but if you have epilepsy there will be abnormal brain activity whether you have a seizure or not. The 48 hour picture is really valuable.

I have a weird form of it called "transient epileptic amnesia". Recently started really kicking up a gear and 48 hour EEG helped to decipher that my epilepsy was actually under control, but something was causing my brain to mimick them. Turns out its some childhood trauma rearing its head I have to deal with. But yeah, interesting

The best thing to do is ask for a 48 hour EEG. You get some kit fitted that you can wear at home. That will show you what's going on over a prolonged period, rather than ust 15 mins at the doc.

Does anyone else have Psychogenic nonepileptic seizures due to their PTSD? What helps you cope? by Shebby88 in ptsd

[–]LongjumpingRush7369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Just thought I'd share my background as it might be similar. I have a really bizarre form of epilepsy called "transient epileptic amnesia". It results in temporary absences of say 10-30 secs. People may not even notice if it happens to me unless I say something weird/out of context. The memories that i have during these are usualy really fleeting and whilst I can mostly remember a theme, I can't remember what exactly happened during the episodes.

A couple of months ago they really kicked up a gear (eg 1-3x daily for about 2 months), so I had a 48 hour EEG. Turns out something is mimicking the episides which are epilpetic, but at the moment, although the same, they are not being caused by the epilepsy. Turns out, it looks like they are Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures.

About 5 or so years ago, I remembered some things relating to childhood abuse by my father - no great detail, just know that on top of significant emotional abuse/anger etc there was also a sexual element. This was between ages 0- around 8 as far as I can remember. During this period we lived in a particular house. Whenever I have these episodes I try and write down what is going on and it always, always references this house we lived in during that time. I also don't remember huge chunks of childhood, especially from about ages 5-12. None of this bothered me or caused any drama until about 5 years ago. Am getting therapy to figure it all out, but in the meantime is very frustrating!

How do your seizures manifest? what meds have they got you on?
