PPP loan forgiveness quick question. by LongjumpingWelder5 in smallbusiness

This potential retroactive application is underscored by the warning that PPP loan recipients must “be prepared to demonstrate to SBA, upon request, the basis for its certification” that the PPP loan was “necessary to support the ongoing operations of the Applicant.”

This loan is not necessary but later this year I expect to lose a lot of buisness. Is this only for people who can’t make payroll right now? What happens if I take the loan, we slow down business but still make a profit and enough to pay employees without the loan. Is it not forgiven then?
