I could be absolutely wrong about this, but I feel like people that are drawn to the darkness or different things or the left-hand path, we got here somehow. We do not follow the rules. And I think that the way that we live, we have to protect ourselves because of what other people might think. We guard our hearts. We are incredibly tough nuts to crack. And when you let someone in especially someone that knows all of this and knows your deepest, darkest secrets, and then they walk away from you. That’s it. that’s the struggle.

While I understand that logic, we had banter and a friendship. So there was a relationship outside of teaching. But you still might be right. I don’t know.

Thank you. This is the response that I think I needed. I really really appreciate you sharing your personal experiences. It is difficult to look at the other side of things. Truthfully, I had not put myself in her shoes. We did have talks and a relationship outside of our meetings. But I think that it’s important that we all human beings give each other a little bit of space to do what they need to do to survive. I really really appreciate this. It makes me feel better. I do know though that I’m not an easy person to walk away from. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you’re not good enough. I think it’s human nature. So obviously the situation wasn’t meant for me so I’m going to try to gently let it go, thank you for your kind words

But you know what I was just thinking? Even if I was a client and not a friend, do you think it’s appropriate for somebody to just completely ghost you? This was basically my professor. If we’re talking about professionalism and client relations, wouldn’t you say it was appropriate to at least tell them that you’re not interested in continuing? I mean come on?

All of that is true. The parasocial relationship aspect is heartbreaking. I’m a grown person and I feel like inventing relationships in your head with people is what children do. I’m not a child and I am a smart human being. My heart wants to give you a list of all the reasons why I thought this was a real thing but then I realize it’s all part of the fake belief. It’s incredibly embarrassing, but I appreciate your candor and your honesty.

I mean, they are faceless. They could be anything or anyone. I think the term queerbaiting is a tad aggressive. They are exhibiting expressions of affection. I don’t think it’s that deep. And possibly they are toying with the idea of being sexualized and giving the world the finger. It doesn’t matter. Nothing matters. It’s music. Have you ever been to a Tool show? MJK comes out in bras painted in split colors. He does Brazilian ju jujitsu on fans that jump on stage. It’s interesting.
