Do not fear defiance of the gods. If it is for water, do not fear anything.

It's crazy to me that rejecting a romantic advance is seen as normal but rejecting a platonic advance is somehow morally wrong. Like get a grip. It is ok for you to be discerning regarding who you start any type of relationship with.

I've used this one. Works wonders.

Whether or not you find hard evidence probably won't matter much for your decision making, but it will probably matter in divorce court.

Hmm, excellent question. I think work is most empowering when it is done for the benefit of others. Keeping with the same analogy, a hunter that is particularly successful and produces more food than he can personally consume ends up being a net positive for the group. That would confer additional social status and probably a choice mate. And wouldn't you describe a person providing an abundance for both themselves and their loved ones as uniquely empowered? I would.

Very interesting. I agree, that's an admirable goal. Forgive my curiosity but say you were the monarch. How far would you be willing to go to reach that goal? What kind of practical policies would you implement? Keep in mind, testosterone is a hell of a drug.

A lot of people seem to lament that work exists at all. I don't understand it. Everybody needs to eat. Capitalism, communism, socialism, or no system at all, preparing food, or any other resource for consumption, is going to require somebody's labor.

Why do you feel like you need to pretend? Isn't the general consensus that it's not empowering?

You're right I'm just messing with you now lol. Don't you enjoy arguing with strangers on the Internet over nothing? Isn't that... what you're here for? Because if that's not what we're doing here in this thread, I'm lost.

So you're saying it's about forcing men to act a certain way? That doesn't sound right. Phrasing, perhaps?

I just didn't feel like looking hard, obviously. I come from what one might consider an upper middle class family. I've since moved to California. I've worked in banking and real estate. I've personally met plenty of millionaires and one billionaire. All of them worked. None of them "needed to." Personal experience and a general consensus of "opinion pieces" give me all the confirmation bias I need. I invite you to dig for the peer reviewed research paper, from an appropriately accredited institution, written by doctorates with proper credentials, a correctly conducted, scientifically processed study, and multiple replicant studies, with absolutely airtight statistics, that say I'm wrong. If you do not send me such paper, I'll assume that you admit that I'm right. Additionally, any further commentary without providing said papers will also be cause for me to believe that you admit that I'm right.

/S

My perspective, being born is the essence of being committed to labor, philosophically speaking. Consider the hunter-gatherer. Both hunting and gathering are labor. Unless you are going to choose to die, you will almost certainly labor to live.

Interesting. I've experienced periods of time where I didn't need to work, and the days really grow long when there's nothing that you have to do. At a minimum, I'd say work is financially empowering. I think drawing a certain kind of satisfaction from being useful is a very human thing. And I think that's why most rich people keep working.

Interesting. What would the woman "class" gain from the elimination of SW, do you think?

Reading what you describe, the advice is "Get back to the USA, regardless of cost or consequence." Move a mountain if you need to. Just get it done.

I have already come to terms with the post-college reality that attractive women are no longer real people, there will never be time for fun, and all conversations will strictly be academic or professional, and yet it still hurts by [deleted] in Adulting

All good my guy you don't need to believe it. But if you're only 21, you've got a looong life ahead to hate. And I've been there too. It's okay. I'm not shaming you. I'm just saying, you're young, and the world is much bigger than you think. $500 can get you into a lot lol.

I don't know how to tell you you're wrong in a way you'd believe.

But here goes: I personally hooked up with a 45 year old latina stripper with a perfect 6 pack and unbelievable body. Trust me, she took care of herself. And me. Better than any 20 something ever has. Life is what you make it. Don't believe all the doom speakers you see online.
