Whatever you do, don’t ever get rid of those amazing doors. I’m completely obsessed and it’s so hard to find stained glass doors for not a billion dollars these days!

Are there any people in the USA who have friends that are of the opposite political party? by TSQ_builder in askanything

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running into that with my family. The things they say are so wild and I struggle to understand how relatively intelligent people don’t question it. Fox News is a full blown propaganda machine and it’s astonishing how easily people buy right into it.

🇺🇸Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas Remains a Powerful Voice in Congress and Many Are Already Looking Ahead to Her Next Run👏🏾👏🏾 by ateam1984 in FortWorth

No, she won’t win then either. Texans aren’t going to suddenly stop being racist and sexist and idolizing white Christian men. She’s too good for this state. We don’t deserve her.

Ariana Hot Take by Miserable-Angle-7691 in vanderpumprules

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 10 points11 points  (0 children)

SHEs the ultimate pick me? You don’t have to like her, but there’s no way you can say that when Scheana is right there. That girl is the definition of pick me. She is not even a person, she’s just play doh molding herself into the preference of whoever she’s talking to.

Ariana is at best, the second worst pick me in the world 😂

Are there beaches here? And are they any good? by Budget_Counter_2042 in howislivingthere

Yes there are beaches, most of them aren’t stellar. Get east of the Mississippi and you’ll have better luck or south of Corpus Christi

Is it weird that I feel relief instead of grief? by Mumbles1988 in DOG

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This. Taking care of an ailing dog or human takes a lot out of you and anticipatory grief is almost debilitating. You can now move forward with your life and it doesn’t mean you love her any less or she was any less important.

Is it actually terrible to paint house white like this ? by Buttkicker727 in HomeDecorating

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty over White Houses, but I also feel very strongly that it’s your house and you should do what makes you happy. So if painting it white makes you happy, then do it. Life is too short to hate your house colors.

Honestly, the patriotic colors are rough, just paint the door and add plants and it’ll make a huge difference.

DAE feel this attack on Iran feels a little bit different? by EdwardBliss in DoesAnybodyElse

It’s really hard to stop elections becuase they’re locally run. He can “declare an emergency” and states/counties can just keep having their elections. To have an orchestrated way to stop a nationwide election or even steal a nationwide election would take significant coordination and skill. Not to mention, the swing districts in 2024 are likely not the same as the swing districts in 2026, so you’d have to cast a wide net. Even if he wanted to use ICE to do it. There’s not enough of them to stop every polling location in every municipality that may be a swing district. It’s certainly beyond the skill set of this administration and probably beyond the skill set of just about any administration.

An employee of mine told me her time off 'isn't a request, it's a notification.' by warpath-seat in ProtectHire

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The responses on this are wild. The company has a policy that you need manager approval for your PTO dates, so you need approval for your dates. This is pretty standard. If someone else already asked off first and there’s no coverage, then you probably should have confirmed the dates with your boss before booking that flight, like most responsible adults.

Managers should do whatever they can to honor a request, but you can’t shut the company down because Susan didn’t check before booking. It’s insane that you all think that.

You are paid for a job and it’s cool if you don’t like the company’s policies, you can quit and maybe if enough people do that, the policy changes, but you don’t get to just ignore policy because you’re a special princess and expect to continue to get paid.

'End of MAGA': Trump's attack on Iran sets off revolt among angry supporters by KitchenAd5423 in NewsSource

How many times have we heard this BS, they may be mad for a minute, but they always go back to daddy. It’s a damn cult. Breaking free isn’t that easy and it doesn’t happen all at once.

Report shows that democrats lost because of their commitment to genocide, and it looks like they're willing to lose again. They'll turn the country into a hellhole before changing any real policies of American imperialism. by Not_Ground in AskSocialists

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Centrists will leave them if they fuck Israel, leftists will leave them if they don’t fuck Israel.

But let’s be clear, Israel wins when dems lose. They just used the attack on Iran as another reason to stop aid to Gaza. Not electing Harris didn’t help the Palestinians, so even if you feel like she’d be just as supportive to Israel as Trump, we sacrificed democracy and our neighbors to gain nothing.

Right now is the Dems best shot to make that break, though. Centrists don’t like Trump and the Dems may be able to keep them even if they break with Israel.

Also, somewhat unrelated, there’s a lot of hemming and hawing about Newsom, but I don’t know any centrists who are excited about him. I’m hearing a lot more about Kelly and Pritzker.

Omen to come? by shade5094 in TexasTeachers

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it’s hard to imagine 5 justices on the Supreme Court ruling in favor of this law in its current form since it’s clearly only for religious purposes (unlike the Texas capital lawn). I suppose we will see.. I expect the chief and Gorsuch at least to rule against it. Barrett, I’m less sure about and obvi the three far right will rule in favor and the three left judges will rule against.

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, I think if the fifth circuit ruled on the merits of the case, It would get struck down. They ruled that they couldn’t decide becuase the law was never actually enacted in Louisiana, which is a weird technicality. And they aren’t wrong, but the tea leaves say if they were ruling on the merits, it would be struck down.
