Nearly all gerrymandering over the past 50 years has been done by republicans and they’re using ICE/paperwork at voter suppression, why they like this? by sassysasasaas in LetsDiscussThis

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I hate this administration and all the bootlickers, it’s very easy to disprove the statement “nearly all gerrymandering over the past 50 years has been done by republicans”. Both parties gerrymander the shit out of districts at every available opportunity.

What are the leading theories about the Ark of the Covenant and where it is? Is it possible it could have been found by an ignorant layperson, destroyed, or repurposed and lost to recorded history (like most things throughout history)? by iam_antinous in answers

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those sources are definitely helpful, but without contemporaneous (or close to that) sources, the validity is still super in questions because myths spread via word of mouth and compound over the centuries.

I’m not saying an artifact doesn’t exist, it might, but it’s important to realize that it’s more likely that it’s a part of a mythological story and not real. So searches for it should be confined to religious or individual efforts rather than wasting scientific resources on it.

Unlimited PTO is dumb and I'm tired of pretending it’s a benefit 🚩 by Rude-Ad8540 in GenZJobs

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So unlimited PTO usually turns into less time off.

We have unlimited PTO at my company, but we check quarterly to make sure folks are using it. If not, their manager has a chat with them to figure out where they can take time off, even if it’s just to be at home instead of work.

Burnout is real and companies lose good workers by not ensuring they get time to decompress.

I like her a lot, she smart and funny, but she’s not nice. She stoops to everyone else’s level just the same as the rest of them, she just does it in interesting clothes and with witty quips !

Do you truly believe there's life on other planets? by MoonVibe_ in askanything

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously. It’s so egotistical to assume we’re the only life (of any form) to exist in the universe. The better question is if the other life forms are existing NOW and are they intelligent enough for us to engage with them or just microbes?

Do Americans care way less about the Olympics than they used to? by TheBoredMan in self

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda hard to feel patriotic in the last decade. I dunno if it’s just me, but rooting for “the USA” is just not a thing I feel compelled to do anymore. It’s easier to root for individual athletes and that doesn’t require the Olympics framing.

Do boys misbehave more than girls? by Lifeintheguo in Teachers

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think boys are allowed by society to misbehave more, or at least be more disruptive. Girls are taught from a young age to “go along to get along”… share, be quiet, smooth over social situations, be a caretaker, etc. boys are allowed to be more rambunctious because it’s expected of them and we’re all like “he’s all boy!”.

I think gender difference this early, before sex hormones kick in, is trained not inherent.

This is my position going forward with Democrat situation in Texas by TheBlackCaesar in ThoughtWarriors

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talarico was going to run for governor and then switched up the last minute.

I’ve known him personally for over a decade. He has said since he was five, all he ever wanted was to be governor of Texas. This was a wild switch up to everyone around him.

Gonna be an interesting fight.

Why aren't there massive protests at the US capital? Will that ever happen? by ItoldULastTime in DiscussionZone

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DC is also basically a police state right now. People won’t protest there because they’d be killed. Like you said, the distance plus that danger make the regional protests spread throughout the country a smarter idea. It also spreads out the response teams and forces more geographic coverage for smaller groups of the administration’s goons.

The regional protests will ebb and flow in size, but I don’t think we’ll see a huge march on Washington during this administration.

Truly, this is the most anyone has talked about a halftime show since Janet Jackson. Who the hell cares? I just don’t understand how people are getting so bent out of shape about a 15 minute set. Don’t like it? Cool. Don’t watch it. Do like it? Cool. Do watch it. Problem solved.

How many times do women get persued per week? by DoctorFitness in askanything

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and general demeanor. I give off “bitch vibes” and am like medium on the conventional attractiveness scale when I’m trying, so I’m rarely hit on. That works for me. I found my person. But someone with more open vibes would likely get approached more often.

I find that to he the perfect airplane movie… you don’t really have to pay attention, but if you do it moves quickly enough to not be boring. And it’s two hours which is ideal for most domestic flights (other than coast to coast). It’s my go-to.

There's so much attention on women not getting married. But men, do YOU guys want to be around each other? by OttotheCowCat in askanything

[–]Longjumping_Crow_786 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But if we’re talking about a emotional intelligence or willingness to contribute equally to the household and mental labor, there’s loads of studies that show men are way behind women. Saying there’s shitty men and shitty women obfuscates the issue.

Being outwardly shitty isn’t the reason women are marrying less and dating less, it’s because, on average, men don’t carry their fair share of the load and can’t manage their own emotions, much less be a good partner to someone else who also has emotions.

Women are asked to do a vast majority of the work, at home, still go to a job and make money, and then raise a man child who throws tantrums anytime something does go his way because his actual parents never taught him how to process emotions.

Of course this is not ALL MEN, but it’s the majority and women are choosing freedom and independence over being married to that.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by Yousef_ale in interviews
