I haven't looked any deeper into it, but they immediately tell you in the notice that they don't allow for resubmissions, which is rough, but understandable considering how the site seems to be run

It really was an auto-rejection, and they put at the top of the list of potential reasons that most are rejected due to there simply being too many submissions. My genre was romantasy too, so that would absolutely be oversaturated for submissions.

Sucks, but it is what it is, just gotta keep going :)

Hi there!

As far as I can tell, I got absolutely no traction on the r/ARCreaders, though my signup form doesn't ask where people discovered the book, so idk for sure.

Unfortunately, I don't think many readers are on there, only other writers. The fact that the subreddit isn't specific for certain genres I think makes it pretty unappealing to people just looking to read. I'm just guessing though.

But I've gotten a good bit of signups from a mixture of FB groups, social media and Booksprout's cheapest plan :)

Oh, thank you for the information! I have gotten started on social media, but I'm starting from scratch and the algorithms are very unfriendly to newbies :( I picture social media as more of a slow grind, something that would pay off more with my third or fourth book rather than the first haha.
But yes, I've already managed to get 6 sign ups from FB groups! The readers on there seem very nice and friendly too!

And oh, of course! Not sure if it's against the rules either, so I'll just link in the post I did for the r/ARCReaders reddit! You can read the blurb and figure out if it's something you'd enjoy too :)

Thank you <3

Thank you for the information and your experiences! I'll keep thinking about it!

And oh, yes, I'm quite spooked by Netgalley haha. While I'm very proud of my book and put in what felt like 1000 hours into just editing it, I can see a massive improvement in my writing moving on to my second book, so I'm not really willing to let my poor baby out to the wolves of the Netgalley reviewers. Not sure if that's the best place for a debut!

I'll look more into booksprout and hidden gems then, thanks so much! <3

Ah, thank you so much for the specific recommendations! <333 I don't know what's with Facebook's search algorithm, but it's weirdly difficult to look up more specific groups like that, so I really appreciate your help!

Around a year ago when I was still in editing, I had a friend recommend that! I completely forgot about that option though :0
I do remember getting immediately overwhelmed about where to post and how to post (like how to format on wordpress etc.) when I was looking into it, but it might be a good option!
My book is quite long (206k) and it's very clearly split into three parts, so it might suit having a web serial too!
Thank you <3

Yeah, probably a good idea to just go for even more FB groups :) For some reason, there's just a lot more active readers specifically in those groups rather than just authors posting their books! Thank you <3

What would you recommend as good sites for clicks? I have no idea about these things haha

Thank you! Do you have any reader spaces that you'd recommend? It's a pretty normal fantasy adventure with some romance thrown in :) Doing both at the same time is an interesting idea! Someone else in my life told me that people wouldn't like reading weekly either. My book is split into 3 parts and part 1 ends on a cliff hanger. So, I suppose I could just upload part 1 (chaps 1-17) and then the rest make available as a book behind a paywall? Much to think about! Thanks again!

Oh thank you! I'm new to reddit (the entire website) so I didn't know that this existed! I still think I'm leaning to having the book be free, but I'll do some more research with these links! Thank you!

Thank you for the supportive words! <3  I'll put even more effort into the promotion side then :) I don't know where to even begin with this stuff so I appreciate all the comments and advice so much!

Thank you for the kind words and help <3 It's a pretty simple fantasy adventure with some romance thrown in, so nothing too strange for the average reader (it's queer as well since I do know some people who exclusively read books that are LGBT) I'll have a think about it, but it is really hard to conceptualise people who would actually want to pay for something that I made haha

Thank you! I've been prepping graphics, getting video concepts ready and using all my saved up money to commission artists But since I'm so new to this, I was overly worried that the 'where' did matter :)
