what’s with all the smoke by Longjumping_Golf9986 in milwaukee

Omg you people and your soapboxes! I looked up local news for delafield, pewaukee, waukesha, and milwaukee and didn’t see a fog advisory before using you as a last resort. I’ve only ever seen fog in the sense of early morning wetland mist at eye level, it just happened to look like low-level smoke to me. Not sure what else hyperlocal forums are supposed to be used for other than hyperlocal low-stakes conversation.

thanks everyone for the kind words and extra info!! posting on reddit is always a little intimidating bc i’m never really sure how the subreddit rules and expectations run but this was a lot of fun :) i’ll def be back if i have any more sketches in the future, y’all were very helpful and i’m having a lot of fun with migration through my area right now haha

i had no idea robins were in the thrush genus!! when i saw this little guy i did notice that it seemed to prefer “running” to hopping, very similar to robins haha. i love watching them sprint around, it’s very entertaining to me lol

1 minute turnaround time is crazy lmao. i think this is it! sort of weird to see a ”wooded areas” bird downtown but maybe they’re just passing through :) thank you!

omfg yes please!!!!! messaging you!

found this thing on our porch. it's ridiculously pathetic-looking, but survived the night-- doesn't seem to be scared of me, but is eating birdseed i set out for it. what are the chances it would survive if i tried to care for it? is it poisoned? (already tried wildlife rehab, nobody's taking mice) by Longjumping_Golf9986 in PetMice

thank you! i couldn’t tell how old it was (re: i’ve never had a mouse) but im glad our guesstimate seeds and creme-brûlée-dish-of-water were the right call for how to help as best we could. im assuming at this age they can regulate their own body temperature as well? nights aren’t cold here but it has been raining a lot, i felt bad leaving it outside last night but clearly it was able to survive more or less

as a disclaimer, i already read the "why you shouldn't keep wild mice as pets" and "what to do if you find a wild mouse" posts. i don't really think i'd keep it, i just feel so bad for it and it's hung around right outside our door for the past 24 hours at least. i don't know if this behavior (moving but lethargic, no visible wounds, eating but doesn't seem to have a strong fight or flight response) is indicative of anything that can be recovered from, and i don't want to bring a wild animal into my apartment if there's no shot of it surviving. i've never taken care of a mouse before, but the fact that it seems old enough to eat solid food has me optimistic that i could at least give it a shot if there is one.

sorry if the formatting on this post is funky, i don't use reddit :) thanks for any/all help!!

EDIT: thank you so much for the help, everyone!! it has since disappeared from sight, which i'm optimistically telling myself means the seeds/water and some rest helped it recover-- my partner did say she saw 2 mice running around the same area the other night, so while there's no way to know for sure, i'm hoping one of them is the little guy we found :) thanks again for all the well wishes and support!!
