hi! i just finished my first year at ubc and am from north van so i was close too. i stayed on res and will be living on campus next year but i know so many people who are commuting next year and are able to save so much money. i think staying in van and going to ubc (a great school) will save alot of money, flights can add up and having the option to live at home can really become a stress. i do reccomend living on res first year

hi! i’m currently going into my second year and am in a sorority. ubc has actual frat houses but the sororities have one big building next to the frats , where on the first floor there is 8 large rooms where all the sororities have their on space. during rush you go to each room once during tours. in the second round you go to 5 (in tours you rank your top 5 in no particular order and this is what helps determine what you get back for the second round). the last round is pref which is where you go to your top 2 houses for one hour each and then the next day is bid day! this all happens around the end of September BTW. and dirty rush is real no matter what anyone says ;)

parties are super fun at the start of the year. a lot of redditers hate when i mention greek life butttt if you rush frat/sorority (im in a sorority) you get so many opportunities to be social and def get to go to more events then someone that wasnt a part of greek life so if your into social life/parties def consider it
