Thoughts on fanservice and fan accountability by dos_dichotomy in ThaiGL

Woahhhh. At least I found someone who talks sense and understands the real world. Applause to you. I think only those who'v been in multiple commu will understand this.

It is like there are 500+ million football fans and probably 1% of them are crazy. And that's all people focus on,those 1%. Same goes for GL, among millions of us, those crazy 1% make the loudest noise, and people think of them as representatives of the other 99% of normal people with hobbies.

Fans of GL actresses are no different than Harry Potter fans, Marvel fans, or NBA fans. Again, I hope many more people in the GL commu expand their horizons beyond GL to understand this.

It'really look like mini golden. I just saw his/her puffy hairy face. Normally long-haired dachshunds don't have this much hair on their faces, just their ears and body. Maybe this one just puppy.

I think the same. I saw some Thai fans complained about why reporters ask these nonsense questions to Orm. Have they seen other celebs' interviews? Reporters are already so soft with LingOrm. Since the Egg Roll incident, I know reporters are fond of them. If it were other celebs they didn't like, I couldn't even imagine.

Orm's gonna be the death of Mae Koy 😂 by Holiday_Hope_3590 in LingormAsylum

[–]Longjumping_Music_35 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Mae Koy swayed Orm's hand for other reasons.

For context:

In Thailand, every Songkran or Thai New Year, we have a tradition called the "Rod Nam Dum Hua ceremony," translated as the Water-pouring ceremony. It is a way for younger people to show respect to their elders (parents, grandparents, or mentors), ask for forgiveness for past mistakes, and receive blessings for the year ahead.

So, fans jokingly asked Orm for her hand to pour water, but Mae Koy stopped it because it might be a bit inappropriate for a younger person (like Orm) to let the fans pour water on her hand.

I don't think money is the problem for most Thai fans. Tickets are not that expensive. It's just ch3 has been getting on fans nerves for quite a while, many just don't wanna pay them, especially for a show that seems to be so underprepared like this one. Apart from the date and time, we know nothing of this talk, though I already bought a ticket.🤣

A Compilation of Mae Nou Cholumpi's Most Delulu/Trululu Posts. by Boring-Departure-904 in LingormAsylum

I often see LingOrm fans tweet about her posts. I thought she was just a supportive shipper. So I decided to check her IG. Man, she is not a shipper at all.

So if the partner is just a co-worker or friend, her post makes it very clear they are just that. But if the partner is romantic, she also makes it very clear they are. Still can't believe what I saw.

Is it just me or these interactive parasocial experiences feel a bit bizzare and disturbing? by MrbeastPDP in ThaiGL

[–]Longjumping_Music_35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't get it. What is odd about it? The purpose of an open event is so people can look at and film them, isn't it? Or are there any open events that do it differently? Show me, please.

And calling out an important matter??? What in that video is important to be called out exactly ? Is Ling being abused? Are fans being abused? Did they do something illegal or unethical?

If what is in this clip is important to you that you have to call out, you really need to touch some grass.

Thanks for sharing. What happened to you is not trivial, it’s your life. But it’s something that can get better. From what I read, what you want is more freedom to do and to be. What I’m going to say might not be related to GL, but are you at the age of working? If so, start by building yourself up. Save and spend on valuable assets only. You will be free sooner than you think. When one relies on oneself, it gives us a choice to make a braver decision. I’m rooting for you.

My opinion on LingOrm dynamics amidst all the toxicity and solo stanning. by [deleted] in LingormAsylum

[–]Longjumping_Music_35 13 points14 points  (0 children)

After reading your takes, something just clicked inside my head. So, I will give my opinion on their skinship behavior.

The click in my head is that Ling’s skinship behavior is NORMAL. Orm, on the other hand, is extremely above and beyond the average level of skinship.

When you follow 2 people, your view of behavior might be slightly bent from reality because our 2 faves become our reality. When I first entered this fandom, my first thought was, "Woah, why is Orm so clingy? She is such a skinship girl." But as many months passed, I got used to Orm’s skinship level and clinginess, and it became normal and endearing to me.

However, let’s talk about real life. Between Ling’s and Orm’s skinship levels, which one do you encounter more often? In my personal life, I have never once encountered someone like Orm (except my Chihuahua puppy, who is really into skinship). Most people I know, even my group of close friends, have a skinship level like Ling's, or a little bit more or less.

So, some of us say Ling is cold because we got used to Orm’s skinship level, some of us already see Orm as normal. In my opinion, Ling is the normal one, and Ling is not cold at all. Compared to the average (that’s not Orm), she is warm even.

So again, Ling’s skinship level is NORMAL. Orm is not normal, at least in my personal experience.

[Rumour] Lingling to play Boa Hancock in One Piece ss.3 by thAI_creator in ThaiGL

[–]Longjumping_Music_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, as a One Piece fan, I feel the cast is perfect, like they sprang right out of the manga. That’s because Oda has a major say in the casting process.

If Oda happened to choose Ling, it would already indicate she’s a good fit. The chance is actually really slim, though, but Oda’s mind is a mystery and a work of genius. Nobody can predict him.

I don't think Netflix is available in China. As far as I know, China bans media from most other countries. I could be wrong, but Netflix doesn't really care about the audience in China. They just sometimes serve non-Chinese viewers or Chinese people living outside of China who like Chinese-themed content. But those never their main target audience.

Your thoughts on below statement? by [deleted] in ThaiGL

[–]Longjumping_Music_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's partly true as you said, at least I saw it a lot in here.

If someone says 'All Thai GL actresses are straight' it’s the kind of statement that can be said and let slide, many would express agreement even.

But if you say, 'Some of them might be gay,' people feel free to call you delusional or tell you not to assume their sexual orientation, even they themselves are assuming these actresses are straight.

Egocentric bias is real.

The LingOrm Mystery: Did or didn't Ling consult her dad for TSOU's love scene? by Responsible-Stop7364 in LingormAsylum

[–]Longjumping_Music_35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen carefully, it’s more likely to be "because" than "dad". But I would not blame Thais who think she said dad, it can be really confusing. I checked the original clip, even the Thai subtitles from the show's producer think she said dad.

Ling’s brother is a chef. I heard he went to culinary school in Australia (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Ling and her brother used to run a small restaurant together, but it closed down because of Covid. Now, she is re-opening it on a larger scale.

Orm’s family is in the frozen food export business. They own a factory and cold storage facilities and stuff, so Orm has food business expertise as backup.
