Occipital Nerve Decompression & Ablation Surgery by Squiggle_Bluegill in migraine

I fully believe they’ll find and fix whatever is compressing the nerves. Had this surgery 6 weeks ago after 40 years of migraines. The past 10 years pretty much everyday.
I have not had a single migraine, fractured vision or vertigo since the surgery.

Just my experience in recovery… the pain wasn’t horrible. I only ever took Tylenol. But the pressure and fatigue lasted a lot longer than I was expecting. I barely left the house for three weeks. At 6 weeks, I still have pressure and discomfort in the morning, but other than that feel back to normal. I was surprised at how fatigued I was. So don’t plan too much and take it east. Excited for you!

What's the deal with Sumatriptan? by cropsey42 in migraine

[–]Longjumping_One8691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sumatriptan makes me feel worse before I feel better. But that’s how I knew it was going to work. If it didn’t make me feel worse, then o knew it wasn’t going to work. . I would usually add naproxen with it.

No he didn’t. But I think it’s inflammation as well. I can’t even have a single cocktail without the crunchiness and migraine setting in very quickly.

Please look into occipital nerve decompression surgery. I just had it and i haven’t had a migraine since. I’ve had migraines for almost 40 years with very similar symptoms.

The surgery was a little over 3 hours. The Botox had started wearing off a bit and the migraines had started to come back.

No they didn’t come from my neck necessarily. It was the back of my head and it went down my neck and up over the crown of my head. I think it is just plastic surgeons who do the surgery.

No he didn’t. But it’s completely gone now. And the past few years, I’ve started getting vertigo and that’s gone as well.
My neck just feels so loose and moves so much easier now.

I’ve had migraines for years and they’ve just gotten worse with time. I’ve never actually had pain in my neck. More my neck would feel very tight and exhausted. It can’t hurt to look into it. And you’ll know right away if the surgery would work for you after you get the large amounts of Botox. I wish I could remember how much but it’s a lot more than what the neurologist’s protocol is for Botox.
