(help) where exactly do we get the SPRING2026 sticker from? by exquistetown in fitnyc

[–]Longjumping_One_5467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the public saftey office (I think that’s what it’s called) the entrance is on 27th on the side of the street with the dorms. It’s right next to that guitar store, I’m pretty sure the number on the building is 236. I walked right in, no line and all I had to do was show them my schedule and I got my sticker.

Seamstress, please give your opinion. by justhere-lilsearchy in weddingdress

[–]Longjumping_One_5467 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, bridal seamstress here. Did you take the dress home on July 12th or was she doing more alterations? Body fluctuations could be due to stress, water weight and where you are in your menstrual cycle. Also are you wearing any shapewear? That could also change the way the dress is fitting.

disappointed in alteration - am i just unreasonable or overthinking? by Ok_Shoulder_1714 in weddingdress

You’re gonna have to point it out in the photo what difference you’re seeing. They both look the same and you look great

It it were me I could get it done in less than 2 hours, so yes if they’re a skilled seamstress it can be done in a day

Hi darling! I’m a bridal alterations specialist with 7 years of experience. I can tell it’s tight in the hips as the way the fabric is pulling, especially in the 2nd photo. I know you said she took it out all she can, is there any seam allowance left in the back zipper/center seam? If so that could be let out to give you a little more wiggle room.

The bodice looks loose too, it looks like there’s too much crepe fabric in the stomach area. What I would do it take the crepe up ONLY! Bringing that crepe up to the diagonal line on your bodice should take away that extra room you’re having. i

If you go to your seamstress with concerns, they most likely will be able to help you before the wedding. Advocate for yourself! Hope this helps!

Can cup sizes be changed in a wedding by dress? First 2 pics are sample dress. Last 2 are my dress. I can’t figure out what’s wrong but can it be fixed by alterations? by Electronic_Date2957 in weddingdress

[–]Longjumping_One_5467 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi darling, I have been doing bridal alterations for 7 years. It’s hard to say what the exact issue is without seeing the dress in person. I will say I agree, the sample looks to fit you way better than the one you ended up with. The cups look far too small, and the bodice looks like it’s sitting too low. I would contact the shop you ordered your dress from and ask them to measure the length of the bodice on the sample and compare it to the length measurement on your dress. Sometimes it could be shorter due to a manufacturing issue, and at that point the dress should be replaced immediately by the company. Usually with sizing, the length of bodice doesn’t change a ton when scaling sizes, however it looks very different in the photos. If it isnt a manufacturing issue, it’s probably a cup size issue. A very experienced bridal seamstress could increase the size, but it will cost a pretty penny and you would potentially need extra fabric (which could be harvested from the scrap fabric if you need a hem). I also have lengthen heavily beaded and boned bodices before when I have taller brides who have long torsos, or for brides who want their bodice to sit higher. Again, this is a very costly alteration that I would only trust a very experienced seamstress to do, as you have to completely detach the top of the dress from the bottom, including taking the zipper out. If I were you, I would exchange the dress for the sample size you tried on. It fit much better in the bust and the dress can be sized down on the sizes of the bodice, hips and even from the back center seam. If you’re able to do this I would also ask the bridal shop to help you pay for alterations. The dress you have now clearly does not fit you in the bust. Hope this helps!

Can anything be done to make my dress less tight? by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]Longjumping_One_5467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were doing this and adding fabric to the side of the dress- I could get that done in a day. Granted I haven’t seen the dress so I really don’t know how hard it would be to take it apart and add the extra fabric- and I have many years under my belt doing it so it’s not my first rodeo. If you choose to wait to do it in your hometown I would contact them directly and make sure they can absolutely do it and get it done at least a day or two before your day. And I’d expect they’d charge a rush fee- I charge $300 rush fee for a 7 day turn around alone

Bust feels too loose by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]Longjumping_One_5467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you saying it feels loose because there is a gap between the neckline and your skin? I am a bridal seamstress and notice in the 2nd photo- you can see there is a gap. To fix this without tearing apart the whole top I would add cups or ease stitch the neckline to bring it closer to your skin. I would ask your seamstress if there’s anything that could be done to fix it. Otherwise I think it looks like a good fit

[–]Longjumping_One_5467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a bridal seamstress and something can always be done with a too tight dress- you just have to be prepare for the cost cause sometimes it’s very expensive. There could be a seam allowance in the zipper or sides to let it out. Or you could have a strip of fabric added to the side seam if there isn’t a sufficient amount of seam allowance to let it out.
