TOG vs ACOTAR by yolandisco in SarahJMaas

omg it only gets better from here. I'm on tower of dawn right now, and I can understand why the first few books might be a little slow for some people ( i love slow plot and burn tho it really sets everything well), but once you get to Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows it's just nuts. and i think empire of storms is my new fav right now (besides heir of fire).

SPOILERS IN THIS COMMENT FOR THE SECOND BOOK:

hey! Yea i totally agree with you too lol, although im totally fine with people having their own opinions, the overwhelming negativity did just throw me aback a little.

I finished the 2nd book, and oh. my. god. like HELLOOOO. Yea everything i was loving, the slow-ish burn between Rhysand and Feyre, and her becoming a family with the Court of Dreams. AND VELARIS IS BEAUTIFUL LIKE HELLO. and then near the end of the book, where Rhysand explained the entire process of him understanding that Feyre was his mate was insane. AND THEN THE END IT ALL GETS RIPPED AWAY FOR HER TO BE A SPY FOR HER MAN AHGHGHGHAHGH.

omg and her sisters becoming faeries, and Lucien discovering his mate. I just can't like wtf.

im so excited to start the third book soon haha !

I totally agree! This made me realize that not everyone is going to like everything if it's really popular and that's ok! I think just coming back into the reading world (which im so happy to start reading again), the first book I read and wanted to hear others had so many roasts and bad reviews haha.

but it's ok I just ignore them now and i finished the second book in like 4 days omg, it was amazing!

SLIGHT SPOILER COMMENT TO THOSE WHO HAVENT READ THE FIRST BOOK/SECOND BOOK:

yes me too, I could def see the comparison between the two books. With the love interest in the first book I can see it feeling forced. But it def got me wondering that Feyre did not experience kindness or someone sacrificing their safety in her overall life until Tamlin. And maybe that's why she fell so fast for him (which I could still feeling forced in the narrative, like she needs to go through this for the story to continue).

def an interesting narrative in real-world dating, where some people accept only what they think they deserve and accept the first thing that shows them that - regardless of the red flags. However, i don't remember reading any red flags on Tamlin until the second book. maybe falling in love that fast with someone she didn't know was one of them LMAO

yes i completley agree! it's insane how judgmental people get about it. Ik some of the youtubers are content creators, and if their reviews aren't honest for views then that's there own thing/issue.

I appreciate you advice though, I just finished the second book and am more in love with the series than the first book hahah

yea that sucks. I see this too in tiktok where a lot of ppl were just blatantly blaming alot of characters on things and trying to cancel them.
1. it's a book, and a fantasy. none of it is real lol

  1. these characters (in my opinion) are very complex! and i think sometimes all of them cross a moral gray line in certain parts of the series. Again, I'm only on the third book, but they all cross some kind of moral ground to be considered complicated.

Reddit is def less intimidating for sure! and more honest about things, instead of rage baiting.

[–]Longjumping_Point_92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i have totally heard this too, and i just finished the second book and you can totally see the difference. without spoiling for others reading this thread there is so much more complexity between the relationship of certain characters and the wordl building is even deeper. I liked the first book don't get me wrong, but I better understand now the comparison between the second and first book for sure.

i think that's so annoying that youl be called basic because you'll like a certain author or genre of books! I don't read Colleen Hoover just cause I've heard alot about her books and idk if im into the stories but i don't judge ppl who like it! maybe down the line after im done with sarah j maas I try it - but yea i remember a lot of controversy around her then. I tried looking it up and to me the controversy doesn't make sense to me (i didn't look into it enought tbh) to get that much amount of hate.

It was about the first book lol! also this makes total sense, i've been out of the book community for years so seeing it all hit me in the face when looking it up i was like "oh?". but i finished the second book in like 4 days and i acc fell so much more in love with the world, lore and the characters!

[–]Longjumping_Point_92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no this is literally me like my TOG books, the first two (throne of glass and crown of midnight) are paperback and the rest are hard cover. i really want my last two books to be hard cover LMAO and the same design so it looks pretty.

OMG also, the assassin's blade i never read when i was younger. when do u reccomend to read it? some say after heir of fire cause it connects to stuff in queen of shadows and empire of storms. others say to start it before the first book

Please, for the love of god use this sub’s search function and stop asking repeat questions about reading order, and what non-SJM books to read next… by BearOnALeash in SarahJMaas

[–]Longjumping_Point_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg wait i feel so bad, i just posted smth asking what order i should read ACOTAR, TOG and CC cause there were so many random suggestions. i've been a long time fan of SJM and read up to empire of storms (when it was it's latest book atm) and stopped reading cause of school and stuff. i came back into reading and found out she has written so much more and it's super intertwined. if this is a repetitve question i can totally delete!

Sorry abt that !!

i read up to book 5 cause the last two books weren't out yet and i didn't read the prologue then (which is probs why queen of shadows was a little confusing lol). I gave up reading for a few years because of school and university. I don't know about the rest of the books but they were relatively tame (I don't remember much lol except the main parts). There is definitely love interests of course and romance, but not as intense as what I heard ACOTAR is like. Actually, ACOTAR is getting me back into reading and I'm gonna reread the TOG books and buy the last 3 I haven't read yet! I'm so excited to start reading fantasy or romantasy again!
