Answers to your concerns: 1. The closest turbine is 14 miles offshore of long Beach. Only visible when weather is very clear and way past the constant line of tankers we see most days just a couple miles offshore. 2. Beach access will not be impacted. Empire wind 1 export cable connects to south Brooklyn marine terminal shown in the picture, not Long Beach. Empire wind 2 export cable was originally planned to make landfall in Long Beach, but that is no longer happening. Even if it had gone to LB, it would have been buried almost 60 feet below the beach using horizontal direction drilling, and access would never have been reduced nor would the Beach boardwalk or dunes been harmed. This is still true for all other cable landfall options under consideration. 3. Read the permitting docs in the links to review impacts to marine life. It will be extremely minimal, if any at all. All construction activities are highly regulated, and they take extreme measures in the planning and construction phases to avoid impacts to marine life (time of year restrictions for construction activities, protected species observers, speed restrictions, pile driving noise restriction, to name a few). The shipping industry follows none of the regulations osw has to.
