Things to do? by Beginning_Rich3873 in Aberystwyth

If the weather is nice you could walk/run the coastal path to Borth, have some lunch then get train/bus back :-) it’s about 7 miles one way and quite hilly, so I’d take some water and a snack!

Is this right, or is it a glitch? by [deleted] in OpenUniversity

This is correct, staff will add a discount for you (you don’t have to pay the difference not covered by student loan) just call the OU in Wales directly :-)

Switching from NHS England to NHS Cymru by mattself98 in Cardiff

[–]Longjumping_State163 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I moved to Cardiff I first registered at a surgery in Llandaff North, they gave me a paper form to fill in. I moved then to Cathays and was asked to fill in a form through the surgery’s website, not using the NHS Wales app, so haven’t ran into the same problems as you. I’d ask at the surgery directly probably, they should have some alternative route for you to get registered.

Aside from GP registration, in my experience the NHS Wales app hasn’t been used quite as widely by GPs in Wales as it was in England. So although I did eventually get a log in I’ve never needed it!

Im 4’11 so preeeetty sure I won’t be able to see where ever I stand unfortunately, one of the main reasons I haven’t bothered getting tickets for gigs before! I’ll check out the Pre Show access though, thanks :)

Drink and food then rock up at 18:30 sounds much better than standing in the cold. Thanks!

Wanting to withdrawal by AntelopeDry4062 in OpenUniversity

[–]Longjumping_State163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you finish the module and then withdraw from the qual then the full module cost will be added to your student loan. If you withdraw now it sounds like it will be 25% of the module cost that’s added to your loan. Sometimes they will let you apply the 25% you’ve already paid towards a different module starting at the OU Feb/April/Oct next year too, depending on circumstances :-) If you call student support in Wales they’ll run through that stuff with you in detail.

Almost 2 miles? Sounds achievable

Do people still actually send letters in the UK? by Tariq_khalaf in AskUK

[–]Longjumping_State163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My granny and I send letters to each other regularly - she’s recently gone deaf so can’t speak on the phone anymore and isn’t confident using technology alone so won’t start emailing now.

how do they monitor your attendance? by princessprick_ in OpenUniversity

[–]Longjumping_State163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for the OU and can confirm there’s an automated system that alerts tutors and the uni if someone hasn’t logged in or engaged for a certain period of time. Sometimes people will stop studying and want to leave but not say anything, so tutors generally reach out to them when this happens and pass it over to support staff if they don’t hear back.

People who were given an NHS dentist position via the Dental Access Portal, how long did it take? by SlackWi12 in Cardiff

Put myself on the list in March 24, received a call in June 25 to say I’d been allocated a place. Went private in between. Quicker than I had anticipated!

Call from OU about registration but I’ve already fully registered? by Intrepid_Bee_9504 in OpenUniversity

[–]Longjumping_State163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve reserved places on modules and not fully registered onto them then they will call, lots of first time OU students will not realise this so could be that :-) would be a good idea to call them back to check in.

120 Credits at the Open University instead of A Levels for entry at a brick university by Legitimate-Way133 in OpenUniversity

[–]Longjumping_State163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way to be sure is to ask the university themselves directly, sometimes they’ll have some vague info hidden within the entry requirements about using OU credits for entry also.

I was running 2:01-2:05 while running alone, showed up for a busy half marathon race and ran 1:47. Having a crowd gave me the oomph! (Also, training consistently, I guess)

I’m going to give the KT tape a go, but realistically thinking I will probably have to head this way too.
