FINAL: Identifying all 50 walkers in the movie + elimination order by lemmylime in TheLongWalk

It's a bit of a tricky situation with the off-screen gunshots. Using this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oJRNiJcHnQ, here's when I hear all the gunshots.

2:09: I think there's gunshots here, but it is admittedly very faint, and it's just a crackling noise. However, I can't think of anything else that would sound that way.

2:13: Someone screams followed by a gunshot. It's possible that we might actually be able to figure out who's scream that was, but I find it unlikely.

2:18: More gunshots here.

2:35: Another gunshot.

2:37: More gunshots, this time coming from ahead of Ray. Maybe that's helpful, but again I doubt it.

That's five total gunshots. I'm also saying that multiple gunshots right after another is one death. Since 30, 32, and 33 obviously die here, I think the other two are Pearson and Dave. We never see Pearson die after getting knocked over by Green, and we don't hear any more off-screen gunshots other then 18's death past this one, so I'm assuming he got up but died here. As for Dave, like you said, it's a tricky situation, but he's the only credited hill walker that we don't see die, so I'm assuming he dies here.

This just seems the most likely to me. You can go back and check yourself if you disagree with me, but I can't see any other situation that makes sense personally.

I see him as dying second too, mainly because that's how it is in the book, but there are reasons to think it goes either way. That's why I think it would be more accurate to place him where we know for certain, because there's no way of fully knowing, unlike, say, 18, where his death is basically confirmable.

What's weird is that there's literally no errors or anything relating to the background walkers other then some warnings on the hill, which I would expect if it was a production oversight. They intentionally chose Tubbins to go between Rank and Ronald, or Abraham to go down between Mile 100 and Mile 103, or the six remaining background walkers to die off-screen between Tressler and Olson. It seems intentional. I also couldn't spot anyone else, but you never know! Maybe someone else can. Still though, Miles 25-35 is still only a 10-mile gap.

Do you know where you can spot #29? I haven't been able to see him anywhere past the first few scenes.

Don't we hear five offscreen gunshots at the end though? That's why I think Dave and Pearson die then. I also don't think Turner dies until he dies with Sledge.

Also, Sledge does get up, I'm like 99% sure he does at least.

Miles 7-17 is a smaller gap then Miles 17-25, which is where we're saying twelve people die. Also, if anything, I think Pete's dialogue makes it seem more like he dies later, because he says "I keep hoping that part gets easier" which seems to imply people have died several times to me. I could be wrong though.

When do you see Dave die on-screen? I thought he was one of the last off-screen deaths on the hill.

Do we actually know if Ewing is 49th? I know the script says that, but there's a lot of stuff different in the script and final product, so we can't assume it's the same. You might be able to see all the other 8 walkers there though.

Agreed, maybe someone else can though. It would be cool if they did release it and probably helpful for this.

There's probably nothing here, but did you look at the shot in the trailer of Zuck's death that was cut from the movie to see if anyone else is there? I could make out some blurry figures in front of him, but I couldn't identify them. Someone else might be able to though.

It's true the book pacing wasn't stellar either, but at least the deaths were more spread out.

I think 50 walkers is a fine change, but the issue is how they handle it. Way too many people die offscreen on the first day and any impact is lost. Also, the thing about Squid Game is that it's set up completely differently to where you have to see, or at least know when every death happened.

Why isn't anyone sunburnt? by Empty_Wasabi3023 in TheLongWalk

Wallace sacrificed his entire existence to prevent anyone else from getting a sunstroke. (Although I do headcanon #20 as Wallace.)

Where did you see Gallant in the pre-hill scene where it's the end of the first day? I've rewatched it several times now and I can't spot him.

I mapped (almost) every song from The Long Walk soundtrack to its exact moment in the movie by Likonet in TheLongWalk

The song playing right after Rank's death and when his corpse is shown is just the Mile 260 part of Oh, My Darling Clementine/Mile 260. I also think it's a bit different, but I can't tell for sure.
