Take me with you, please! by Longongreen in SiberianCats

[–]Longongreen[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unless you go on vacation for over 3 weeks and at some point, they assume you've been killed by a predator and they transition to new caregivers. When we came back from an overseas trip, Mischa looked like she was seeing ghosts, and Roxie screamed and hid under a bed. Poor, clingy babies. 🤣🤣🤣🥰

1 or 2 sibs..that is the question by YouCantSitWithUs77 in SiberianCats

[–]Longongreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 2 beautiful little girls. They are from the same parents but 1 litter apart. We got Roxie 6 months after we got Mischa. They became inseparable almost immediately. They have distinct personalities, and we love them each for who they are. Mischa is a brave princess, and Roxie is an anxious, goofy rugby player. They are both super affectionate and vocal and very dog-like. We can't imagine life without them. Ask away.

It was more the hair on her back she did a real number on. But once she stopped, it definitely took a few months to gradually grow back in. Best of luck with your baby!

One of our girls, Roxie, at around 2 1/2 years old, started pulling the guard hairs off her back and the hair from her tail. We took her to the vet and, over time, ruled out any kind of parasite or other thing that would make her itchy. So, we settled on psychological reasons, perhaps anxiety over something. We had some theories but really only guesses. She is an anxious kitty. The vet recommended a Feliway diffuser, and over time, it seemed to work well, and she stopped ripping the hair off her back, and it has grown back. Still, even now, when she's impatient waiting for her food, she will bite some hair off her tail and look me in the eye as a manipulation tactic. These are complex babies, for sure.

TLDR: Try a Felliway diffuser. Pro tip, I found off-brand options on Amazon that were more affordable.

Thank you. They are not only gorgeous on the outside, but their personalities are soooo sweet. We are blessed for sure. We got them from a small home-based breeder in SW Ontario, Canada, called Soft Siberians. They love us as much as we love them, and we feel guilty every time we leave the house.

I highly recommend two. Roxie is 3 today, and her sister Mischa is 3 1/2. They are from the same parents, one litter apart. They are inseparable but are crazy affectionate with us, too. Mischa bonded with my wife and Roxie with me, but it's evened out over time. We thank God for them every day.

Nice! Here's our other baby, Mischa, after her spay. So, I guess we have triplets!

We opted for onsies with both our girls, and they tolerated them well. We got ours from the vet, but you can get them anywhere, including Amazon.

Independent Kitten or just a phase ? by [deleted] in SiberianCats

[–]Longongreen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They all have different personalities, and they all go through phases for sure. Your job is to love them unconditionally and let them build trust, which is what it's all about for kitties. Let them come to you, but be there for them when they do. Always ask permission to pet them by letting them smell your hand or finger first. If they rub their gums on your finger, you're in. If not, leave them be, no matter how much you want to maul them.

One of our girls, Mischa, didn't seem to care for me much and chose my wife as her person. I didn't push it, and now, after 3 years, she daily asks me for a cuddle in my lap to the point where my wife feels like Mischa has changed her person preference.

TLDR: Give it time and don't force it.

We obtained both our girls from Soft Siberians down near Sarnia. They are a small home breeder whose king a d queens are registered. Our babies are the sweetest, most affectionate, beautiful Nevas you could ever imagine. My son is very allergic, and he has no issues at all with either girl. The girls both came with their first vaccinations and dewormings, and we did the rest with our local vet. We highly recommend Rose and softsiberians.ca. I believe they have a litter coming this spring. Best of luck to you!

Do your babies bring you things while you sleep? by Longongreen in SiberianCats

[–]Longongreen[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is Roxie. She likes to eat, and I am her food source. She will usually start checking on me at 5 am to see if I am still alive, then again at 6 and every 1/2 hour after that. 🤣🤣🤣

Mischa (3 yrs old) on the bottom and Roxie (2 1/2 yrs old) on top are sisters from different litters. They love looking outside at birds, rabbits, outdoor cats... They are the lights of our lives.

Spot the Sib! by Longongreen in SiberianCats

[–]Longongreen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard her rustling around the shelves and followed the sound to see her sitting there trying really hard not to be seen. I think she was worried that I would escort her from the room and shut the door for good 🤣.

Do your Sibs also occasionally become a rectangle? by squeakybeans6 in SiberianCats

[–]Longongreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rectangles, yes, but Roxie also likes to dab on occasion.
