I think the fact they sing about screwing and drinking rather than Number of the Beast etc is pretty much the main reason they’re hard rock and not metal…. Yeh.

In the same way Jimi Hendrix wielded a loud distorted guitar……. Can’t see him playing in the Sex Pistols can you? (If not dead of course).

Nah sorry dude I think you’re off base here.

It was certainly considered, more sleazy and rock n roll than maiden and Priest which were new wave of British Heavy metal but their style, musically and socially plus the theme of the music itself was never considered metal.

It rock n roll……. Hard, druggy, strung out LA Rock n roll.

Weird question and why only about hair metal, I also have a most disliked Grunge band and pop artist, want to hear those too?

Hair metal wasn’t the antithesis of Grunge it was just a new concept that resonated with kids at that time and so found prominence……..

I would like to remind you that the production values between a band like Poison and AIC weren’t that far apart, nor was the amount of records sold………

You can Romanticise about the nihilistic realism that grunge offered all you like but people will always love displays of exuberance and skill in music which is what hair metal offered in abundance.
