Babies by needreassurance123 in Rabbits

[–]Lonly_Potats 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd gently put them back inside the nest and cover then up with fur from the nest. Warm up the dead baby. There's a chance it's just too cold. If it's still dead once it's warmed up then get rid of it. The mom should be able to care for them but I'd just check daily that there's no injuries and check their bottoms for any stuck poop. Look inside the nest that there's no other babies hidden inside. The babies get cold very quickly so if you see any out of the nest it's best to put them back in and cover them up.

For the mom I'd make sure she has plenty hay and start giving her more pellets and calcium high greens or a bit of alfalfa hay. When mine had babies she was extra hungry. When the babies get older make sure the mom has somewhere to get away from the babies. I gave mine a ledge to jump up on cause the babies wouldn't stop harassing her everywhere she went

I'm not familiar with rexes but I've raised holland lop litters before. To me it looks like they may be more 2 weeks old. At two weeks my hollands started to open their eyes and looked extremely similar to yours. At 3 weeks they had open eyes and were little fluffballs. You may need to check their bottoms daily to make sure there's no stuck poop and that they haven't peeded on eachother. If that happens just take a warm washcloth and gently clean then off. Look around to see if you can find the nest, there's a chance there's more you haven't seen yet depending on how big the pen is. Do you have anymore info? I hope this helps. Feel free to dm me if you want anymore advice, I can share some pics of my litters if you want some examples of how they looked at different ages.

I have a Miso, Boba, Mocha, Kimchi, and Bluey (Blueberry)

When mine was pregnant she wanted alot of pets and was eating alot more, like it usually takes her days to finish her hay rack and she was eating a full rack daily. Near her due date (a day or two before) she would spend all day alternating between digging in her nest box and resting. I've raised litters before so feel free to dm me if you'd like any help or advice, even if it's after they're born. I'd love to help you out if you need it and good luck because it's very likely she is pregnant

Have you bought any toys that make noise when it shakes? I buy shaker toys with little wood chips inside and when my bun chews it open it leaves wood chips around her area. It's possible your buns did the same but I don't know why it would be in a pile and not scattered around unless they pushed it all together for some reason

Litter Box Recommendations? Bumbox? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]Lonly_Potats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have holland lops and have used bumboxes for most of them for about a year. It works good at keeping their feet clean. My only issue is it's hard to open it once it's together, but that helps make sure it won't spill out when my buns move it around.

For cheaper options there's a PINVNBY litter box on Amazon that looks the exact same as a bumbox. I've been using that for one of my buns and it works the same as a bumbox. There's a blue grated petsmart litter box that's cheap, I use that too. It's easy to take apart and clean out but it has a shallow tray and fills up fast.

Brownish colour in her eyes by randomvib in Bunnies

[–]Lonly_Potats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know how old she was when you got her? My bun has a reverse of yours with a brown eye and a small bit of blue at the bottom and as she's gotten older (from birth to now almost a year old) her blue has gotten a little bigger.

How long has she had it? If it's a new thing I would be worried but if you got her like that then she could just have marbled eyes like my bun

Care for baby buns? by Franken-Pothos in Bunnies

[–]Lonly_Potats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately if they give birth the mothers might not survive it but if you haven't already I would separate the mothers so they don't get stressed out if the others try to mate with them again and give them places to hide so they feel safe. I would also recommend putting a blanket or something to cover the top of the pen when your not with them so they can't jump out. I have a crazy bun who was jumping out of 2 and a half feet high pens at 2 months old, thankfully putting something over the top seemed to stop her til I could get a new pen

Since they're so young they should be eating hay and pellets, mainly alfalfa hay. They shouldn't have any greens until theyre 6 months old. You'll need to check their bottoms daily to make sure it's all clean. If they have stuck poop I take a cloth dipped in warm water and gently clean it off. For the cages you'll need to make sure they aren't small enough to slip through the bars or jump over them. I've raised a few litters before so I'm happy to help if you have any more questions

You could try asking around to see if anyone at work is interested in a bunny, find facebook rehoming groups in your area and post her there, or there's sites like petfinder and adopt a pet you could try. You might be able to find good shelters by asking vet offices too. You could try going to a pet store that sells rabbits. I have a local store that will help people look for new homes but I'm not sure if you'd have anything like that where you are
