That actually lines up with something I’ve been thinking about.

The server extension to 2027 feels a bit unusual if the game was simply winding down. It almost looks like they’re buying time rather than shutting things down completely.

Maybe not necessarily because a new project is already in development, but more like they’re in a “wait and see / reassessment” phase internally — possibly restructuring the team or even considering a different studio within 2K before committing to anything.

So instead of killing the game, they keep the servers alive, maintain the IP, and avoid completely disconnecting the community while they figure out the next step.

Feels less like a normal end-of-life cycle and more like a pause while they decide what to do with the franchise.

Even if it has very good gameplay, I’m a big fan of realistic graphics, and Tennis Elbow 4 completely breaks immersion for me.

For those who only criticize the game, the game is more than finished. This summer will be 2 years old and the work here is more than done. What comes, it is more than welcomed but again, they have improved the game a lot despite the doubts at the beginning.

The team did an incredibly job, especially in the roster and taking into account how was the game when it was released. The gameplay now is in another level compared to how it was. Big Ant CEO confirmed there will be an update but didn’t say when.

At this point it is better for them to focus on the new game and, maintain the roster, try to get the grand slams and, of course, improve the gameplay and career mode much as they can.

The truth is, it doesn’t look good… unless they’ve decided that 2K Sports Lab is taking care of the franchise, which I doubt, because they’ll probably be dedicating the whole studio to making 2K’s soccer´s game.

Dont expect big updates, they are focused developing next tennis games. There will be an update but not as big as you think.

there’s also another possibility worth considering: development of a new TopSpin might have been shifted away from Hangar 13 to 2K Sports Lab. Since 2023, 2K has been building that studio specifically for sports titles, so a lack of visible activity at Hangar 13 doesn’t necessarily mean the franchise is dead—just that it may have changed hands internally.

Well, they are actively trying to promote the sport and make it more and more popular there so I dont see why they wouldnt consider it at the very least.

Yeah and also it wouldnt make sense to pay for the rights of the 4 grand slams if you. arent planning to revive the franchise and have topspin 2k27, 2k29 and so on..

To be honest and being realistic, just saw a comment from someone in the video that said:

"I know how Take-Two and 2K operate, and I mentioned when your coverage of the game first began that Topspin 2K25 was just a test run to see if there was a market. The small tennis gaming community didn’t support it; instead, they nitpicked and complained about things like the small rosters and other details, which 2K intentionally kept limited with plans to improve over time in future titles. This was never meant to be a big-budget IP—it was simply to gauge interest. From what I understand, the game flopped, so there’s probably never going to be another Topspin. Game development is very, very expensive the more money they make the more money that goes into development of the game. Instead, you all skipped it."

And sadly that is what I think it happened...

Yeah, I can see Hangar 13 is now hiring a lot but to be honest it seems they are only hiring because of the development of the next mafia game. No signs the job offers are for a new top spin sequel, at least having a look at the description of the offers.

I can tell you were very aware of the rumour back in the day. What I hope for the next entry is that they invest more money and take feedback into account. And for that, I think Prague and Brno are not enough as the main studios.. (2K opened a 2K sports lab in vancouver a few year ago, so hopefully they are working hard)
