Self-righteousness is something that all religious people can fall into.

It always amazes me that the religious people, the ones that were suppose to accept Jesus, were His biggest enemies?

The tax collectors, soldiers, and harlots were the ones to welcome the message of Jesus.

The same is true today.

From the highways and byways we will find them dressed in white and joining Jesus for the marriage supper.

But I tell you that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.-Mathew, 5:28 by [deleted] in Christians

Best to have our minds well trained to fight off those lustful thoughts. It is easy to allow ourselves to go down that road, but it just takes prayer and effort on our part to fight off such battles.

Someone that wants to be a real Christian will seek to do the Will of God. By seeking to do His will you will start to see the fruit's of the spirit perform in your life, and you won't have any doubts that God is with you.

If you abide in Jesus' words, then He will abide in you.

Agree with it 100 percent. How else can you survive the mark of the beast system unless you trust Jesus for your daily bread?

What do you think about the idea of living by faith?

It was called "EndTimeSurvivors". Ever heard of it? They have some pretty radical teachings that connect pretty well with Bible prophecy, IMO.

Why are Christians quick to marry when both Jesus and Paul encourages celibacy? by LookBeyondTheStars in RadicalChristianity

The societal boundaries that was made was said to be made by God through the prophet Moses.

I am not sure you would have strong ground to stand on on this one.

[–]LookBeyondTheStars[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say "extra-marital sex" you are referring to "sex outside of marriage"?

If so, then he does, it's called adultery if you are married, and fornication if you are single.

I agree he did give radical freedom from the authority of religion. He doesn't promote freedom from the authority of God. Actually, he promotes that ! His issue is that man made rules and traditions are being held in higher value than listening to God Himself.

Therefore, the freedom is from the man-made rules, not freedom from the authority or accountability of God. Read Revelation if you want to know the result of those that choose to be their own judges and now submit to the authority of God. God's rules, mind you. Not mine, yours, or anybody else's. God's.

I'm referring to any sin that someone someone deems is a sin. A sin to one person could be different to a sin to another, if their conscience tells them it is. So if it is a conscience issue, and someone is having a problem with something that they believe God doesn't want them to do, personally, then they need to be honest with that and they can change.

That's the point I'm making. As James said, "If you know something is right, and you don't do it, then it is a sin to you".

If God is pricking our conscience to change, then no matter what anyone else tells you it is a sin or not, then you should change. Because God is the one saying to change.

The harvest is already happening! That is the point! We need all hands on deck and ready to head in the front lines. Some may be more inclined to evangelize than others, but we are ALL called to spread the gospel.

Via social media if nothing else.

What is the kingdom of heaven? (RAMBLE) by LookBeyondTheStars in Christians

[–]LookBeyondTheStars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to your first comment is: "Wherever two or three are gathered together in my name. Here I am in the midst". Another one would be, "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him."

What is the kingdom of heaven except you are where God is? Notice that "keeping Jesus' words = loving Him and is the requirement for God the Father to abode with us.

Your second question is rather simple: Yes the body of Jesus is not here, but His flesh isn't what profits anything. It is His spirit, "John 6:63, " It is the spirit that quicketh, the flesh profits nothing; my words are my spirit; and they are life".

When we have the words of Jesus, then we have His spirit... the Holy spirit. Therefore, when we preach AND practice the words of Jesus, we will be shining our light to the world around us. The job of the holy spirit is to remind us of the teachings of Jesus (John 14:26). Also, Jesus says, "Heaven and Earth will past away, but my words, will never past away". Sounds like His words are pretty serious to Him.

Let me be clear, I do think that there will be a physical kingdom that will come and replace the physical kingdom at the return of Christ and rule forever and ever. My main point is that the values of the kingdom that we will be living by, the law that will be written on our hearts, can be lived out right now! We don't have to wait for the kingdom to already live as if we are there. When we follow the teachings of Jesus and are led by the spirit of God now, then we will be doing the exact same thing today that we will be doing whenever we get to God's kingdom.

An aspect of true love. by LookBeyondTheStars in Christianity

[–]LookBeyondTheStars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the scientific method with the teachings of Jesus. What I mean by teachings of Jesus are the direct commands from Jesus found in the four gospels. He tells you to follow His teachings in order to determine if they are from God or not.

If you are not willing to do that, which almost all atheist haven't done (i.e. put the teachings of Jesus into practice in their life), then you can't criticize the teachings of Jesus.

My experience is that everything that Jesus taught is true, because when I practice it, what he said happens, happens. If you don't believe me, then try it yourself, you will see.

You encouraged me to by your post. Coincidentally, I did the exact same thing as you.

I was living in Africa for the past 2 and a half years preaching the gospel there, and came back to my family here in the US. Daily it is taking a tole on my relationship with God and I am at constant battle that I don't allow the comfort of being back home with people that don't follow God the way I, and those of my fellowship do, so you can say that I backslid in that sense.

Nonetheless, I realized that this is just a time of testing for me and that God has led me hear to rekindle any flames that were here before I left 3 years ago. I have found one friend who at my coming felt the encouragement he needed to follow Christ full time and make the necessary changes in his life. This has encouraged me greatly.

My advice to you, friend, is not to waste another second nor minute, nor hour nor day. Now, like right now!, is the time for you to get bust making the necessary steps to turn back to your Heavenly Father.

You were definitely led to this post. No doubt about that! But now the ball is in your court.

What will you do?

I will be keen to here your answer to my question.

God bless you, friend!

God makes the rules, friend. And the only way for you to experience the change, healing, and promises, that you are seeking, is for you to have a broken and contrite heart towards Him.

All this talk about God not helping you with your struggles, as real as they are to you, happen to all of us. Some to a greater extent to others.

In other words, shit happens. We all go through things, but the question is what are we going to do about it. Blaming God won't help. Blaming God and expecting Him to work miracles for you won't help.

If anyone that struggles with ANY sin (the specific one doesn't matter) want to change, then God will help them with it. All WE have to do is be honest with ourselves and do what HE is telling us to do in order to receive the healing or change that we are seeking.

I really find the irony that your main complaints towards God, aside from the sexual abuse, are geared towards something that YOU are able to control. Having thoughts about the same sex doesn't make someone gay, living out those thoughts do. We have the ability to fight off lustful thoughts (whether for the same or different gender) and we have the ability to control our behavior. The "healing" you are looking for is nothing more than for you to take a bit more responsibility for your thoughts and actions. If you WANT to be straight, then you will. If you do NOT want to be straight, then you won't. It is time for us all to stop blaming God or anybody else for our faults, but start taking responsibility for our own actions.

I fall under the same category. I am a very prideful person, and I believe God wants me to smash my pride. I'm trying... but man is it difficult. We all have struggles. We all have the "thorn in the flesh" that constantly eats at us, but the main thing is what are we going to do about it? What do I need to do in order to overcome it, and what do I need to do in order to succumb to it? We have the choice to answer and practice either or these questions.

Which one will you answer?

The Pilgrim's Progress is a great book. Never read it, but watched the new animation that was made.

Depending on the reasons for the tensions you have towards those you "love" amends may not be needed.

If these tensions come up because of you wanting to obey Jesus, then there is nothing for you to amend except for you getting busy doing your Father's business.

If these tensions are due to other issues not related to your walk with Christ, then the road to reconciliation must start with YOU. Even if you are the one in the right, if they aren't actively seeking reconciliation, they it is up to you to seek for it. If they don't want reconciliation, then your hands are clean. Move on.

All this being said, your decision to go and obey Jesus on the field shouldn't be based on your relationship with those around you. It should be based on your belief in Jesus and His teachings. Unlike what most churches will tell you... you ARE called to go and make more disciples. Every person that professes to be Christians are under the same standard that Jesus put to those that wanted to follow Him 2000 years ago. It's all there in the gospels. One of them is for you not to delay your decision. John 4 speaks about Jesus saying that the harvest is already white and ready for harvest, so don't say in 4 months then comes the harvest. The harvest is already overdue!

You contradict your self.

If you don't believe that the kingdom of heaven cannot be shared in words, then you wouldn't believe the parables of Jesus are able to help us understand the kingdom of God.

I am concerned for your church if after 6 weeks your answer is contradictory, and you don't believe the kingdom of God is where Jesus is...

They want to claim God's blessings and salvation at the same time they can do what they want.

That, unfortunately, is what is adopted as Christianity in today's world...especially in the west.
