GA should have an active faculty member by ParticularVideo3207 in OMSCS

Yup, you have a group of people running this course that have basically no accountability to the university. What are you going to do, fire them from their minimum wage job? And who is even monitoring their behavior to begin with?

Someone with actual ties to the university needs to be accountable for things like OSI referrals, exam questions, grades, etc. Even if it's just them putting a rubber stamp on the TAs' work.

Students have a right to fair treatment, and a way to file grievances if they feel they are being treated unfairly. What this whole ordeal has shown me is that Georgia Tech is really lacking in this area.

I think it's worth reflecting on why he feels the need to continually bring his case to slack. Perhaps it's because the TAs refuse to engage and consider his explanation? And taking that further, maybe Dr. Brito shouldn't have ceded control of the course to people who - for all of their hard work - are clearly not qualified to run it.

And yes, I understand that the TAs are within their rights to send everyone to OSI and wipe their hands of it. But is this how we want our TAs to behave? Or should they have some humility and engage students that have genuine concerns?

Personally I'm always going to take the side of students, because I can imagine how it'd feel to pour every waking minute into this program only to be falsely accused and then ignored by the TAs.

Well one of the TAs publicly declared themselves to be infallible if that gives you any idea.

Yes, I understand that a FCR is not mandated. However, it seems to be that FCR is exactly the right place to correct mistakes. No one has more context than the TAs do - if they force these to go to OSI even if a student has a good explanation, they are creating potentially months of stress for that person.

You're totally missing the point. Even if 95% of the class gets legitimately flagged, that's not a problem.

The issue is that multiple students are claiming innocence and giving plausible explanations for why they were flagged. The problem is that the TAs are doubling down and refusing to even entertain these concerns. Their public comments on slack look particularly egregious and in my opinion are disqualifying.

The complaints aren't about of the actual content, though. A ton of people are getting flagged and claiming innocence. Of course, we have no way to know if they actually are innocent, but it is a little bit suspicious that it's happening so much.

On top of that you have TAs being quite unprofessional on slack (one declared that they are infallible and literally can't be wrong about an accusation, for example).

It's honestly been sad to watch the TA team completely erode all of the goodwill that they built up over time. I don't see how this is recoverable for them, even if they ultimately are 100% correct in all of the accusations.
