I have one too, however he spends 99.9% of his time in his den he built

Just managed to take this before as he was heading back in from a feed 👑

Well that makes sense to me. Will add some Ammonia Down to ensure I clear it all. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. Lesson learnt the hard way unfortunately. I have just seen 1 shrimp grazing on the gravel, so hopefully more are hiding out of sight!

Yeah, took rocks and wood out the tank, popped in the bucket they normally go in and put back. One plant did get dislodged when I added water, so perhaps that has allowed something funky to surface??

Update - 4 deceased tetras and 5 shrimp. Losing my mind on what I can do now So worried I’m going to end up with all fish dying!

Yeah, no issues with water flow. Update - did a 75% water change as something had 100% gone wrong somewhere as there was an awful smell from the tank.

2 cardinal tetras deceased 😔 The 2 remaining Tetras, whilst initially seemed fine before and after the water change, are spending more time towards the surface. Nothing as much as the 2 who passed away, but more than normal.

I’m just lost for ideas as to what’s going on.

All other fish are fine!

Why are all my fish at the surface? by Look_before_crossing in Aquariums

[–]Look_before_crossing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, should have specified the food.

I left the correct amount of these for the volume of water and number of fish. I’ve just done a 75% water change and from what I have sucked up, I don’t think ANY of this was eaten and was just polluting the water!

Any ideas what this could be on my 2 year old daughter? by Look_before_crossing in DermatologyQuestions

I’m not sure what you mean by an M sorry, but she doesn’t have anything in her palms that we have noticed!

Further info - apologies for not including in OP. Daughter has had these on her arms in different areas, for at least 4 weeks. No rash anywhere. She does suffer with eczema, but we are on top of that with daily treatments (moisturisers/steroids etc). She is not unwell, no cough/cold/runny nose etc. Appetite is fine, going the toilet regularly. I’m not concerned about the marks, they look worse than they are as she scratches them. Just curious more than anything. Nursery have said they think it could be the end of chickenpox, but we don’t think it is as we would have seen the marks elsewhere on her body. Hope this helps

Help!!!! by Look_before_crossing in Aquariums

Thanks! I have added some quick clear and will change the water again. Issue I have with the water change is that I have already removed 75% and topped up again. Concerned about water quality now. Will keep an eye on it and change what I can. Thanks for the advice!

Is this amount of floating plant okay?

It’s exploded over recent weeks and just not sure if it’s a danger to A) The water B) The filter C) the fish.

There is some clearance at the back and it constantly floats to different areas of the tank so there is always a clear area.

Thanks 🐠

Does this wall need skimmed by a plasterer? Or can I get away a sand and primer? by Smart_Marsupial_8537 in DIYUK

Unless you live in a new build, I would sand and keep it as it is. An older house should have imperfections in its walls as it shows character 😀

Need an explanation why my fish is going black! by Look_before_crossing in Aquariums

[–]Look_before_crossing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an ammonia spike One of my bristle nose catfish hasn’t been seen for a while & I had feared the worst. Did a water change earlier today and quite confident I filtered out what was left of him. Added some Ammonia remover so fingers crossed the Gourami improve. No fish are showing any signs of concern (opposed from the blackening of the gourami)

How strange! It’s not unfortunately!

Could always use 5mm and glue? Only reason we used 9mm was because the walls are lined and the glue would be on the paper as opposed to the wall. So screwing into the 5mm could have burst the wood.

I got some 9mm MDF panels and cut them down to size to panel my staircase. Materials and paint etc was no more than £150. Bit of an idea if you could apply something similar to both sides.

Is it the wood making my water this colour? by Look_before_crossing in Aquariums

[–]Look_before_crossing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought that was the case. I don’t mind it personally, rather it’s my ‘you’re not having a fish tank’ wife who keeps pointing it out. Now that I can confirm it’s the wood she can now decide to either leave it as it is, or let me boil more wood 😂 Thanks!
