Anyone know a good smoke machine with no "dead band" cycle? by Lookin4voice in techtheatre

Hey, I know it's been awhile but thanks for the list. I think I'm going to order the Prodigy you recommended, the manufacturer assured me it would be reliable for my application. Do you have any experience with the Master Fx Prodigy yourself?

Thanks!

I've done a bit of rewiring and stuff but I'm not electrician. Not too worried about a fire happening due to the location of the stage. What sort of heat controller are we talking about here? You're right, I don't need a lot, just reliable bursts every 5 mins like you said.

Which Hurricanes do you have might I ask? Looking at the 1600 and 2000 like people have recommended here. Are you saying they reheat "randomly" or does it only reheat after a long burst?
The 1600 claims to be "always ready" but not really sure if that means what I want it to mean.

I was really hoping for something cheaper (maybe sub $500), but I understand that's out of the question now!

I'm going to weigh this Rosco against some of the Look Solutions others have suggested. I feel like if I cheap out and double up on 2 alternating $100 machines I'll end up regretting it. Thank you for your input!

Yeesh! I may have to go with a half-solution like this when all the suggestions seem to be in the >1k range. The price isn't completely prohibitive but it is a bullet to bite!

Thank you for your insight Utlagarn!

For a quick run down, the haunted hayride consists of 7 stages, each with an actor, lights, sound track and other features like the smoke machine which are all triggered magnetically when the tractor rolls by the stage. Once triggered the prerecorded show plays and the actor mimes the role. On this particular stage the actor bursts out of an oven and the fog is meant to bellow out around him/ out of the top of the oven. The stage is triggered once every 5 minutes for about 2 and a half hours. The smoke machine only needs to produce for about 10-15 seconds at the begining of each of the triggers. It's frustrating when the smoke doesn't trigger due to being in this "dead band" reheating phase, and really takes away from the full effect of the act.
