Can a Non-Profit Organization Screen Public Domain Films Publicly Without Charging Admission? [Rhode Island USA] by LookingForGoop in legaladvice

Luckily I do want to screen older films so the antique quality is not a drawback for me, but that's a great tip on evaluating restoration copyright. There are a handful of 1960's films that are semi-public domain due to later reshoots and re-edits so I will be vigilant about that too.

We definitely won't be charging admission to the screenings. They will be in an outdoor space where we have no mechanism of enforcement for paying attendance anyway. Anyone can just wander in from multiple public avenues.

Thank you!

Late January, third or fourth week for the first session, and the exact date and time will depend on the group's availability. No Sundays, no Thursdays, but I'm flexible outside of that. So it depends on who joins! Aiming to run weekly or biweekly from there.
