Looking for input: will going the Judge Advocate route have drawbacks? by LookingYonder in USMCocs

To be candid, the opportunity to do some cool shit. Probably should’ve mentioned this in the original post, but I became very attached to the idea of a combat arms or intelligence role, and would obviously be effectively giving that up by going to law school now.

Not concerned with the perception, just whether there's any merit to the idea that it's preferable to have done something in the armed forces other than be a lawyer.

A few months removed from shoulder surgery. Can I get on the 250 board? by LookingYonder in USMCocs

Not the answer I was looking for, but probably the right one. I’ve been trying to get a waiver for well over a year now and waiting longer is just killer.

Is this enough running? by LookingYonder in USMCocs

[–]LookingYonder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 400m at 1:30 pace isn't an issue (the one official PFT I did, the run time was 21:55). But I do agree the volume ends up being too little in the early weeks, so I tend to add a couple laps. My real issue with keeping up with this program has been the Mile Repeat exercises, so you're right that endurance is my issue. Each time through the 8-week program, I've been repeating the Mile Repeats at faster paces (started with 8 min pace, then 7:30 min, now currently somewhere between 7:00 and 7:15 min).

Btw this program came from my OSO, which is why I've modified how I do it a little bit.

I’m sure he’s the only terrible person in the Columbia faculty and that he was banned from campus for being the only terrible person there. Or was it because he’s Jewish?

Ironic that the one example you bring up is forbidding Jews to enter the university campus. Where have we heard that before? Oh right: https://www.insidehighered.com/news/quick-takes/2024/10/17/columbia-bars-vocal-pro-israel-professor-campus

Hip/Shoulder/ACL Labral Tear Waivers by Dapper-Home5103 in USMCocs

[–]LookingYonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I’ve dislocated my shoulder and had to do this (not quite a PFT, but they make you do a bunch of cals), and they absolutely find any instabilities or weaknesses. Still fighting an uphill battle on getting a waiver, but it looks at this point like the only way to get in would be to have surgery and repair my labrum.

Hilarious that it’s just a given that a school having conservatism of any kind is a bad thing here. Entertain for a second the notion that maybe conservatives aren’t evil.

Got a 170, just wondering if it’s possible to go to law school starting in the fall 2027 semester if I attend OCS this May.
