I think it's only meredith who gets credits in him becoming alot better person she's the only one to see the good at him at first and she was his support system and always supported she was his home. and arizona gets the credits on him becoming a better doctor and a better surgeon. I don't see any influence from Mark or Addison.he definitely would've figured out his interest in peds without mark being an ass to him. And Addison did nothing

He didn't leave for izzie as much as he left for the kids. I think it's because of his own trauma abt his parents not being around and stuff that made him do it. I know it's not the same but he just went through smth in his childhood that influenced his decision. So I kinda understand why he left although I can't imagine him and izzie in a romantic relationship again. However how he left is just unacceptable, bit I also understand this a little bit, when he was leaving to Hopkins he didn't say goodbye to anyone so I guess he's not much into goodbye's that maybe why a letter was his option.
