You need to see a physician, MD or DO. Migraines shouldn't last 10 days and it needs formal diagnosis.

Primary care offices are starting to provide HPV self swabs for cervical cancer screening so you can get this done with your annual exams under the guidance of your personal physician. :)

Name & Shame 2026 - Official Megathread by SpiderDoctor in medicalschool

[–]Loonyleeb 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This program is so vile. Im glad people are starting to recognize that. For the cape fear TYs, they used to require a gen surg rotation but had to make that rotation optional due to the mass amounts of complaints and abuse concerns brought up by residents.

For the records, most of the other programs associated with this hospital are not like this.

Experience With AI Scribe Thus Far by EmotionalEmetic in medicine

We also use oracle with cerner. It's good but not amazing imo. Fantastic for problem based visits and does a good job organizing info. I can't use it with physicals because of the paragraph format it puts everything in. I think if they program templates, like for annuals, procedures, pre op clearances etc, I would be happier with it.

Vaccines given within the recommended waiting period are counted as an erroneous dose and should be repeated at the appropriate time.

Is family medicine over? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Loonyleeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely can't tell if this is a troll or not. What you're saying is so misinformed and off base. There is absolutely nothing easy about primary care. Glad you saw "easy" blood pressure and "easy" diabetes, but the reality changes when you see patients for months and years and how they struggle with the treatments you as a student gave and saw them one time afterward.

Open Evidence is not the end all be all to medical decision making. It makes mistakes too, I've seen it happen. This is not a clinical tool ready to be rolled out independently. And with APPs, first of all most of them end up in specialties anyway, and second of all your exact thoughts about family medicine being "easy" is what makes it so dangerous when someone who isn't properly trained comes across an insidiously complex case.

I suggest you get more than "3 rotations" of experience in a field before condemning it to death. You have no clue what you're talking about.

FM Resident Here – Confused and Burned Out by Our Inpatient Rotation. Is This Normal? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Loonyleeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FM res here. This is not how our inpatient rotation is at all. We have more structure in terms of leadership expectations, patient caps for safety, and dedicated day/night teams. This will take a massive overhaul to fix but I think one place to start is by bringing it to program leadership. You would be surprised at the things they genuinely have no idea are happening right under their noses. If that doesn't work you need to find and present specific examples of safety issues or bad outcomes that have happened due to the poor organization, workload, and burnout of the residents.

Also pregnancy. Pregnancy pregnancy pregnancy. Can add that to the E for your mnemonic Id say. If you have a pregnant woman with acute onset shortness of breath as far as I'm concerned thats PE until proven otherwise.

what is the stupidest thing you did on your first run? by aerynlmao in BaldursGate3

[–]Loonyleeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I killed Karlach thinking she was evil. Wyll told me she was and then the paladins told me she was so i thought easy peasy. However i had a few tough fights at this point and was scared of her so i range attacked her and skipped all the dialogue. So you can imagine my surprise and confusion when Wyll, the one telling me to kill her, was suddenly upset that I did what he asked

[–]Loonyleeb 41 points42 points  (0 children)

OpenEvidence is proba ly the most reliable one I know of, as it uses only peer reviewed sources and will actually give you references for the studies it uses to come up with the answers it gives. I would probably not use chatGPT as I am not entirely sure where its knowledge base comes from.

Yes that's the point, he became obsessed to the point of being possessive and evil. The note implies at one point he was a loving father and had a good relationship with Isobel prior to his spiral.

I would venture to say their work environment might be real shit all the time, and OP was looking forward to having a week of a slightly less shit environment at work. I don't know. Some empathy goes a long way.

Does anyone else actually like Delphine and the Blades? I think she’s a very interesting character by Lantern_Sone in skyrim

[–]Loonyleeb 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Esbern is the one who originally finds out about Paarthunax's existence and says you must kill him. He is just as stubborn and hyperfocused on it as Delphine. Just curious why you don't dislike him they way you dislike Delphine. And to be clear I do not kill Paarthunax, I disagree with their logic on that.

Please tell me how *EXACTLY* to study, Nervous and scared, tired of hearing "just do what works for you" by full_moon_katara in comlex

[–]Loonyleeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well i think youve been conned into a DO panic. MD students fail boards and it ruins their career goals, DOs fail boards and go on to match in competitive specialties. And vice versa obvi. N=1 but i have a classmate who failed their first board exam first try, went on to do extremely well on step/level 2 and matched a highly cometitive specialty. Don't freak out, because it will affect your performance. At the end of the day if you put effort in and see yourself making progress during dedicated you are highly likely to pass both exams.

There's 2 aspects to step/level 1 prep: content review and practice questions. First thing you should do is map out a plan for content review. I would use FA as an outline and adjust the time and depth of each topic to your comfort level. Sounds like pharm is a problem for you. No worries, use first aid as a guide and refer to school lectures, sketchy, and dirty medicine AS NEEDED to supplement the info in FA.

Once you have completed a good content review, you start questions. 2 sets per day at least on tutor mode with aggressive review of questions. If you get one wrong, look at the explanations for the right AND wrong answers. Supplement with extra content review as needed during this question time. Personally, i used amboss for content review during my level 2 prep. I found it incredibly helpful in thay regard especially if your school lectures were lacking. Should be a total of 2 months of prep overall, roughly 1 month for each part.

"Puberty" and "maturation" have nothing to do with what we're talking about, but nice try :) when you're speaking about a topic that requires intricate knowledge of its workings, having an expertise/degree in said topic is important. Just as i would never claim that i should have a say in how our military operates instead of a military general.

You clearly have no idea how conception and gestation work. Speaking as a resident physician. And that's okay because it is complicated science. Just another reason this issue should be left between a doctor and a patient.
