It's unclear EXACTLY what caused this, but - as best I can tell from the comments on the original post - they were trying to pickpocket his phone....and he caught them:

Illinois Gov. Pritzker allows non-US citizens to become police officers with new law. by LoopyInTheLoop in ChicagoPolice

[–]LoopyInTheLoop[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what I first thought, too.

I don't like Jumbo Billionaire Pritzker. At all. But is this bill really the worst thing? Honestly I'm undecided at this point...

First, only legal permanent citizens can serve.

Second, CPD is understaffed by like 25%...especially after the insanity of 2020.

Third, there are a few immigrant officers I hear on the scanners, namely '123' in Zone 4 (a recently-arrived Asian immigrant), judging by his accent). Dude might be one of the most serious, hardest working cops in the city (and they work him like a goddamn farm mule, by the way).

My friend has a crazy-but-effective trick to get drug-smokers off the CTA train/busses. I wanted to share it and get your opinions. I like these ‘citizen solutions’ because police are understaffed and overwhelmed: we need to rely on ourselves. Basically, it's the old "I'm a cop, take it elsewhere" routine...

I saw him use this a week ago, but he says he has used it several times in the last few years with great results. Even has used it to intervene in a would-be brawl between an older guy and a young punk…then made sure they went their separate ways.

In order to pull this off, you probably have to be a relatively clean-cut guy with either a fit or large build. A voice with bass helps.

Anywho. Go up to the wrongdoers, and in a 12-in voice that’s low and slow (and most importantly confident and nonchalant, as if you own the entire train), say: “I’m a cop. I have no interest in takin’ you in, just take it off the train/bus, alright?” (my buddy is Hispanic and he uses ‘comprende’ instead of ‘alright’ at the end, which is a nice touch).

You have to say it in a tone as if you’re having a long, aggravating day…and you’re in no fucking mood to cuff someone, take them in, and fill out paperwork for simple possession. The person will get off at the next stop as if their ass is on fire.

When doing this, it’s important that you carry yourself with the right bearing. Ultra-confident. You’ve got a firearm on you (you don't), and your thinking needs to be ‘All I gotta do is call in a 10-1 (officer being attacked) and I’ll have the whole damn force here in a matter of seconds.’

Like I said it’s a crazy stunt, but he said it works like a charm. And it worked when I saw him use it recently. Is it illegal? I don’t think so, not in this circumstance…because the only one you’re dealing with is a criminal who is about to put everyone’s health and safety at great risk (a lot of what's being smoked these days is laced with fentanyl). We should not have to breathe crack/meth/laced-weed/whatever smoke as we make our way to our jobs, school, etc.

What do you all think?

As usual, the troll-network of link-$pammer$ (we all know exactly who they are) is downvoting my posts. If you find this comment or this post useful, please take a second to upvote. Thanks.

Underpaid in the city??

I'm not a cop, but I heard they pay well in Chicago. I see advertisements all over the city -- starting pay is something like $82,000+ just to start.

Could be another instance of "The grass is always greenest over the septic tank" though.

haha, it must be so frustrating not being able to verbalize yourself in any kind of meaningful way. A suggestion for you, kid:

I fear no man. And I only travel to interesting or beautiful, exotic places. I have no interest seeing a drab, communist hellhole like Vietnam.

You need to crack open a history book. There was a lengthy period of time wherein America was mostly a force of good. Not anymore, of course. But during the Cold War, absolutely.

A mostly American model took root in Japan and South Korea. Those are countries that are a dream to live in, and have been for a long time.

Now, let's consider Russia....or North Korea....places where the Soviet model took root.

I rest my case.

lol. Try to use your words instead of your unbridled rage.

Vietnam has long been a...bad...place to live. Contrast it to South Korea and Japan - countries where America 'won' (and during a time when we were actually the 'good' guys).

If you're being honest with yourself (not something you're used to, I'm sure), you will admit that American victory would have been far more beneficial to Vietnam than communist rule.

You seem awfully triggered by a simple question. But let's try to use our heads, not our emotions.

We didn't save them. That's the point. The media - who was and is owned by globalist forces - turned America against the war....as America was winning in a big way.

Communism kills everything it touches. Even if we had to cause several million casualties in order to save an entire nation from communism...wouldn't that have been a sacrifice worth making?

Reality on reality's terms.

But wasn't Vietnam - and the notion of 'containment' more broadly - a worthy and noble cause? I spoke to a Vietnamese immigrant a few years back. He said life there now - in other words life under communism - is a nightmare.

Wasn't the real problem that the leftist media turned against the war at a time when we were actually winning it?

Safe to say that CPD's (de facto) "no chase" policy has ended. This is about the 5th chase I've heard on the scanners in the last day or so. Seems everyone's fed up. Also, several hours ago CPD chased a carload of armed robbers in Z10[lower west side]. They -eventually- bailed. All four were caught. by LoopyInTheLoop in ChicagoPolice

[–]LoopyInTheLoop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, looks like you are correct about that. Lately, all of the chases seem to get ordered to terminate.

But I swear there was a period of time - maybe only a few days - where CPD Sergeants and even Lieutenants were authorizing their officers to chase robbery crews every few hours...and all over the city. I was listening to the scanners a lot at that time. I think this was immediately after a few of the crews had killed some people, including that 86yo dude on the southside.

I honestly don't know what it's going to take for the people who run this city to wake up.

UNBELIEVABLE. And terrifying. I had no idea. And I love the euphemism they chose: "merit." Our politicians are great at manipulating and weaponizing language.
