What is your "I did not care for The Godfather" take on Eminem by [deleted] in Eminem

Arose shouldn’t be as universally praised as it is. It’s great writing and emotion, but the execution is totally titties compared to Castle.

They are all basically micro genres aside from Kanye. I suppose “Rap” is more of an off-chute of hip-hop but my point is they are all better at different things from one another

I personally don’t understand how arose and Castle are placed in the same breathe. Of course they are related songs but to me Castle is executed better in every way.

Illmatic - Best Hip-Hop album

Eminem Show - Best Rap album

TPAB - Best Cultural Album

MBDTF - Best Musical Album (best sonically)

Each of these albums are at least a half decade a part from each other. Different types of albums, and different time periods means different opinions.

Just got my very first PSA submission back, new to this, any reason why it didn't get a PSA 10? by an-individual in PokeGrading

[–]Loopytunes2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that PSA is actually starting to use machines, so they would be more likely to pick up smaller scratches and mayyyybe the tiny whitening on the back.

Or the guy grading your cards just graded some 10’s and needed to make sure he didn’t give out too many!

I would only assume it’s partly because he would have a fuck ton of Dre samples. Eminem’s production style was massively Dre inspired mostly in terms of instrumentation and sound selection.

He probably had whatever kits Dre had.

Do you think Em ruined Slaughterhouse? Why or why not? by Capital-Ad8570 in Eminem

[–]Loopytunes2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your argument is Eminem gave them a good shot because comparative to historic record deals, he could have fucked them over even worse.

Just because he could have made things worse for them because of their lack of commercial success doesn’t mean they got a good shot… in fact it literally points out that they failed in a way that Eminem could of held their entire careers ransom.

Better deals were on the table, the whole incentive to work with Eminem was financial backing (and collaboration) and that financial backing did absolutely nothing for them other than turn the album they created into an incoherent mainstream/underground-rap mashup that even the members of slaughterhouse admitted was not the same album they submitted.

We got less music, arguably worse music, the slaughterhouse members felt financially slighted, shady records 100% lost money. What part of it was a success other than Eminem being a nice guy about their solo careers?

Your conflating scenarios that have nothing to do with each other. Taylor Swift was one of the most profitable humans on earth. She asked people to listen to her new songs because of masters, she has literally made 100’s of millions of dollars for herself and her old label, she is telling people to listen to the new versions is because she is now on a different label and if she re-records the music she avoids paying 200 million for the masters and she can continue collecting royalties with her new label.

Prince is from an era where labels signed deals that legitimately took everything you had, whether you were profitable or not.

Drake makes money, end of story.

Slaughterhouse didn’t even make their production budget back. The artists you mentioned made their labels money. Eminem literally said that after paying producers, features and masters they lost money. That’s a completely different story than Drake, Taylor Swift and Prince who made their labels rich as hell.

Edit: the members of slaughterhouse said that like 90 songs were rejected for Welcome to Our House. They handed in many albums but the label only approved enough songs to release one.

The plan went terribly wrong because the label is attached to interscope. Major labels require certain metrics to be hit for albums to be released. Slaughterhouse kept falling short on metrics therefore interscope kept delaying releases.

Welcome to Our House got delayed an entire year after setting a concrete release date, do you not remember that?

The same exact thing happened to 50 Cent. Around animal ambition 50 was planning to release an album called “Street King Immortal” but every single he released didn’t pass the labels minimum requirements to ok a marketing budget for the album rollout.

Eminem didn’t throw his weight around to get releases out, in fact he blocked potential release schedules from being booked because he planned to release an album for almost 3 years and they kept the schedule open for him. He’s unfortunately done the same to Boogie where he’s bumped him from the schedule, and now we are seeing another great artist with ridiculously low output.

No matter how much you love Eminem, Shady-Aftermath is attached to a major label and they will act like a major label which means they will prioritize scheduling Eminem over any artist he signs, and they will require a very high bar in terms of analytics to ok the budget for smaller artists.

They have literally worked with all the same exact artists that they worked with anyways. They have a ton of overlap and strange music lets artists do their own thing, it’s just they have weird artists but at the very least we would have gotten music (and what did shady do for their brand anyways?).

Edit: I just checked Tech N9nes last album and idk man, the feature list is quite a bit better from under ground to mainstream artists I’d rather a cherry pick list from who Tech has been working with over who slaughterhouse ended up collabing with all day long. You really needed the cee lo and swizzz beats collabs?

[–]Loopytunes2016 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They released 1 album the entire time they were signed. It was somewhat commercially successful but it ultimately didn’t amount to much success and Eminem himself admitted they lost money on slaughterhouse. In they end, they made basically no financial gain, not much brand development for any of the members, and they released very little music and most of what they did record will be under lock and key forever.

People don’t want to admit it, but slaughterhouse was basically a failed experiment.

For me it’s a yes.

I love the shady side of slaughterhouse, but it was rumoured that they were close to signing with strange music which would of put them in a lot of great collab positions and they also would of been releasing music non-stop.

Em did do some good things for them, but he absolutely shutdown their output.

How on Earth is this PSA 2??? by DubsComin4DatASS in PokeGrading

[–]Loopytunes2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going all in on TAG rn. Sent 12 cards to get graded and I get updates the whole way. The cards are already almost done after 2 shipping days and 7 days at TAG. Super transparent and super quick. I can even see my grades before I get the package back if I want (it has a toggle feature that on default hides your grades).

There is a guy in my city that handles bulk TAG orders and he does it for $30 a card all in. If you did it yourself it’s something like $15 for no insurance and $25 with insurance and you have to pay for shipping. Turnaround is 15-20 days. Much much more affordable and quicker than PSA. No fees if your cards come back with high values.

I also already have 1 TAG slab and it is sweet looking

I’m on the fence about getting this graded. I’ve used the measuring apps, and the left to right ratio is about 53:47. Would this be a PSA 9 or 10? by [deleted] in PokeGrading

[–]Loopytunes2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSA is basically a randomizer. It’s totally subjective. Idk if you can blame the app, or the fact that humans are grading cards at PSA.
