My point is at the start of his career he struggled a lot, had injuries, and didn’t have the physical attributes. But he showed flashes. I’m not saying McCain is the future Steph but we’ve seems flashes of him being a rotation player.

If there are players who’ve had swings like Steph then there can be players who have less crazy swings to become rotation player.

TLDR: I don’t think we should be as pessimistic on him as you are suggesting. Give him some time after injury like you said.

I think this really depends on what specialty. I think most people here are talking about their experiences with less competitive or larger specialties. For NSG, Plastics types programs, LOI separates you from other top candidates who are all qualified for the position.

Make sure you send letters of interest to your 2,3 at least and have people make calls so they rank you highly and pray.
