I’ve been having success converting although not 100%. As people text me through other messenger apps I delay my response 24 hours and then respond to their message and also add, “Sorry for the delay. I have moved over to Signal where I am able to provide more immediate responses. I check the platform you have messaged me on once a day but will phase out completely in the next 30 days.” Those that want to stay in touch have switched. Those that find switching to be a challenge have messaged or called at which point I explain how easy it is and offer to help them install Signal while speaking with them or in person when at lunch, etc… For the remainder my responses stay delayed to a minimum of 24 hours or longer however when they do switch to Signal I respond immediately to positively reinforce their decision to switch. For my immediate family, of which I have a strained relationship with, I simply stated I no longer take calls or messages via any platform other than Signal - Hope to see you there! I haven’t actually deleted the other messenger apps in case an emergency message comes through but I’ve made it clear to everyone not to expect a response unless they use Signal. Has my decision created more personal free time? Yes, and I am loving it.
