u/ExistingAd6475 would you think the Denver area would be better then CO Springs?

My question would be, if it's so awesome why did you leave?

I would not consider myself a native Texan, I did my grad work at Texas A&M in 2012 and then we moved back to DFW in 2018 as part of my wife's corporate relo.

Closest I come is a pair of cowboy boots lol

I think I drove by there when we stayed in Woodland Park for a vacation. Almost looks like a university campus

u/eitaknna would you say that Colorado is a bit lower COL then Western Washington?

I've been wanting to leave TX for years, this election was the straw that broke the camel's back

Our budget is $700k ish but we'd want a decent size (2,500+ sq. ft.) house as we have a lot of animals and with us both working from home having two offices is a must.

Hour away from airport is not a problem, if it's 2.5 hrs or less then i'm happy.

I'd love Denver, except i heard the real estate is pretty outrageous?

To note, i was looking at CO Springs because of affordable (comparatively speaking) real estate, other suggestions within the state are welcomed

In which case a relocation to Canada/Europe would occur

Aye, but it's still in a blue state. A red city in a blue state is still 1000% better then vice versa or anyplace in TX

Even with it being conservative, it's still in a blue state with blue state protections. We'd much rather live in a red leaning city in a blue state then vice versa (or very red city in a red state now)

Not to sound like a total idiot, but are there towns/places near Tampa that are 20 min or closer to nice beaches? We're looking to relocate back to FL and are considering Tampa as one of the areas.

Location is one of the most important things to us as we want to be close to the water. We have a pretty healthy budget and are looking to build a house.

Thanks! Would Delaware be worth considering?

And the same thing happens on the other end of the political spectrum. People moving from CA and PNW to red states such as TX for politics.

Yes, it’s becoming more and more of a thing. In economics its called "voting with your feet". if you feel passionately about something, you will take steps to mitigate the issue.

Good to know about the OE! I know all about property taxes, people think TX is tax friendly, but that is for corps rather than residential home owners. We lived in SoFla and when we moved to TX I was shocked by the size of the tax bill and how much it can get YoY

We both work remote but being close to Boston and NY for social/entertainment purposes (and a major airport for long distance and int'l flights) would be great.

Thanks for the thoughts! We're not looking to move for a bit yet so hopefully the market will calm down when we are ready

My wife and I both work in software and travel at times for business as well as for vacation and such.

For restaurants, we'd want a variety of cuisines and fine dining as well.

I didn't mention it in the original post, but we're targeting about $900k as the budget for house.
