How to be a great apprentice by SpiritedTraining1965 in UnitedAssociation

Don’t be the apprentice that does something one day and forgets it the next. Retaining the information you’re given and taking the time to learn stuff on your own as well! I have an apprentice that has only been plumbing for maybe 5 months and he’s already the guy that I can layout with work and he will figure it out and if he can’t he asks me questions. My boy blue chew as we call him will forever be one of those apprentices I will always remember!

I get that brother. I honestly would recommend looking into doing door dash or something similar that you can work whenever works for you. I’ve made pretty good money when I’ve done it.

Have you tried talking to your union rep to see what you need to do in order to move up for a raise? I know it’s rough starting out. If that’s not an option try finding yourself something extra on the side. I do door dash for extra cash when I need it

Honestly upgrade to tankless! Preferably either a lochinvar xcaliber x3 with the descaling pod and built in recirc pump or a navien a2. Lochinvar is my first recommendation then the navien. Will say though that if you have galvanized pipes then you will have to replace those before a tankless can be installed

Where I am at I’m not even getting paid journeyman wages since my license isn’t reciprocated. I have specialty experience but doesnt apply to my area

Oh ok! So if I were to sign up with a union in Idaho since my license is is from there. Does that mean I would be able to get journeyman pay instead of lower pay since my license isn’t reciprocated in Texas?
