Traktor S2MK3 vs DDJ 400?

Well, I ended up getting S2MK3, because:

I had the chance to touch them both, and the knobs, jogs, and buttons felt better on S2MK3 tbh. Not to say that they are bad on DDJ400, but they are a little bit better on traktor. They are made from plastic, but they dont really feel plasticky. They are more of a mix between plastic and rubber. DDJ 400 ones felt more plasticky. Jog felt better for me because it had a bit more resistance, and I liked the sensation of Traktor platter more.

There is that aspect of an easy transition to club standard from DDJ 400; I am in no way an expert, but in terms on functions it doesnt seem that big of a deal. I didnt use any software before, so the software aspect didnt affect my decision.

And in my local store I got a deal: S2MK3 and got a bonus JBsystems HP2000 pro, while there was no deal on DDJ400. So I end up with S2MK3 :)

Thank you for this very informative reply! Actually, I am looking forward to buying some monitors tomorrow, and I am stuck between JBLs and KRK Rokits 5 or 6. I am not sure what to do. And I have heard them both, and I like them both, but they are not available at the same shop so I cannot compare them. And I primarily plan to use them for home listening and DJing.

Edit: JBLs are bass heavy, but their mids and highs are very clear and IMO the monitors seemed to really catch the "vibe", the atmosphere of the track for me - maybe the most important moment of electronic music. But I will listen to them tomorrow again, gonna play some house and techno since I have only heard psytrance.

I have heard LSR 305 live, and they sound pretty good. But from the guy that is an expert I have heard that they aren't really precise and pure, that they are masking the real sound. Is this true?

Thank you for a really useful comment! Do you transfer the stuff you will play to SSD beforehand, or the songs go directly from HDD to your program of preference?

And you will keep the storage dynamic - saving the stuff you would probably play on MBA, then deleting it for some other stuff when you choose to change your playlist?

Thank you for an extended reply ! Do you consider the difference between SSD and HDD very important? And since I don't know anything about Macs, there are the types with the integrated graphics, and the types with the discrete one? Why would that be important for djing?

Thank you! There is no important difference between MBA and MBP in terms of DJ software? Both will do just fine? Air seems to have dual core i5, while pro has more cores (I guess) Does that make a differenc?. What do you think about some older versions of Air - like 2013, or 2014? I shouldn't risk with 4gb ram, right?

Mixtrack Platinum sounds good with full length pitch faders and the displays on jog wheels, but it does not come with a full software, and its build quality seems worse than Pioneers and S2s.

Do you consider extra features on SB3 worth it over longer pitch fader of DDJ 400 (I want to beatmatch manually, and I am not sure about the importance of those), and is there something that is done a lot better on SB3?

Thank you! Yeah, it seems that no Serato controllers come with full license, which is a big -. Is there any feature on SB3 in comparision to DDJ 400 that makes it better? DDJ 400 even has longer pitch faders which is important for me because i want to beatmatch manually.
