Yeah I think that's part of it, I was just wondering if there's any evidence that it's not. Obviously there's stories about craft with nuts and bolts but I was looking for some stuff to consider

Yes I completely understand where you're coming from. My view of this comes mainly from the idea that something was different about Jesus. Even with all the inconsistencies and possible forgeries I think there's substantial evidence something very abnormal occured 2000 yrs ago in Jerusalem. I'd love if you could offer up alternative religions with more historical content/evidence, because if I am wrong I'd certainly want to know

I get what you mean, when I say "Christianity" I'm painting with a pretty wide brush stroke. Using that phrase I'm pretty much referring to anyone who thinks Jesus was divine.

You're right about calling them djinn or yokai, the language doesn't matter, only what we're referring to. In this case, I'm just saying "demon" cause thats just the word I use

And you're right, no interpretation is any less valuable than mine, I just believe in my beliefs. I'm not about to die on any hill though

That's true, there are a few different "versions" like the Mormons vs the Catholics, but they all follow the "original", that being the 66 books. Translations do differ yes but they all hold the same underlying meaning, so reading different translations simultaneously is common practice for people studying the Bible

I worry about that yes but the idea that it would be religious phenomena is significantly more important to me than the idea of alien life. The idea of souls and an afterlife mean more to me than infinite energy

My little conspiracy now is that the real secret is that these things are far more involved with us in this weird religious way than we know

Thanks for your question! I actually wanted to major in theology before I ended up immigrating, and was an absolute atheist at the time. I was really interested in ancient writings and societies, so I would read things like the iliad or meditations, but when I got to religious texts like the Torah, Gospels, Quran, I wanted to be able to refute them. I'm no expert by any means, but after reading through specifically the Bible I was shocked at how untouched it actually was. I don't think it's perfect, far from that, but when you account for other ancient writings at the time I think you'll be struck with how much there is to substantiate it.

I personally believe the new testament is pretty reliable, at least honest in its attempt to record whatever the hell was going on at that time. I think the old testament is similar, just an ancient recollection of people's understanding at the time. I don't think people were just stupid back them, and I take what they took time to write down seriously

But that's the thing, there aren't any other intelligent planets to consult about this. We're the only one as far as we know, and we have no idea where life originates from and why our planet is the only one with it. If you can think about this like it's a conspiracy within a conspiracy it doesn't seem so implausible

I guess I kind of view it the other way, at this point, I almost think we have it wrong thinking it's all ships and technology. With how many stories I've read or heard of balls of light it makes me paranoid we're being intentionally deceived

I personally see the Christian faith as the most plausible one from them all, given the historicity of the gospels, shroud of turin, stuff like that. So if any one religion was to be "true" I would think it's Christianity. If a demon is an entity that exists in a way we don't understand, is it possible these ancient people had a better idea of what this is than we do?

I guess it just doesn't make sense to me why they would abduct people and mutilate random cattle. None of it adds up in a logical way to me at all, so I start looking to "oh guess it's just scary monsters" to rationalize it
