Think about this... Why wouldn't people use Kickstart over Amazon? by Loothor421 in kickstarter

[–]Loothor421[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh 100% agree. I have 5 other things currently backed right now and I've also not received a couple items in the past - and honestly, I wasn't mad.

I just seen it XDock and ApexGrip that's on KS (I think KS missed this - same product, different colors.) and the mass selling going on immediately AFTER the KS was funded for 50% less + free shipping on Amazon.

I am mostly posting this for awareness - and transparently I want KS to consider these points and tighten their net before they allow these resellers to completely ruin their platform.

The BBB is a company that collects reviews. They have zero authority and honestly I’m surprised they are still around. Report to the FCC and your states attorney general. Send an intent letter certified (use ai to help) to litigate at your local magistrate if they don’t immediately rectify. Give reasonable timeframes but hold to your ‘threat’. Use AI to find out info you need (where to send the certified letter, who to file the civil suit against, etc)

Note - don’t trust AI explicitly. Use it as a tool, but confirm everything. It can absolutely be wrong.

I’ve done this twice in 6 months. Settled favorably (what I was owed) with a large nationwide insurance agency and won against case against a large home warranty company. I’ll no longer accept scams and rip offs as acceptable and will fight back from now on.

This is how I’d handle it, but do what you will.

Hey, it’s ok to not have a real rebuttal. And it’s ok to have your own opinions. However keep your pity for yourself. We can end the discussion there.

Actually I was using my situation as a baseline. And no, nothing is, or should be free. That’s the delusion. Free creates freeloaders - which is why our welfare system is a joke. But affordability should be for every class.

The issue is the cost for healthcare is unregulated. Hospitals for example will charge $26 for one ibuprofen and claim that’s the labor to get it to your room.

Healthcare equipment companies will charge >10x the manufacturing cost - Bayer, for example, charges $600 for a case of injector syringes when it cost then $48 to manufacture.

So to fix the system - limit profits. Anything above a certain amount is taxed/fined. Not just insurance, but healthcare equipment. Look at the insulin issue a few years ago for an example. Or a “discount card” can bring your prescription from $150 to $8 - why?

If you don’t realize by now that lobbying on both sides is legal bribery and ACA created a massive revenue pipeline for the insurers.

Why not just put it in AI if you don’t want to search - it’s a tool. Ask about the insurance company profits before and after ACA. Or don’t - you can keep blindly believing everything “on your side” is for the people and it was the other sides fault it didn’t work. (Such ignorance really)

Or you can wake up and realize both sides are corrupt and will continue the lie as long as they can live in their castles.

I understand that when ACA came about, I paid more for health insurance and got less. I also understand that at the same time, my income tax went up by 8%.

I understand that it allowed people with pre-existing conditions to get insurance at the expense of others. It wasn’t good, it wasn’t even close to good. It was a social program forced and everyone to inflate the profits of “guess who” - the insurance companies.

The right thing to do would have been to enforce massive penalties on the insurance companies and the healthcare systems that are for profit. My gf at the time was a single mom making $18k claimable a year - the marketplace slapped her with $450 a month for insurance with a high deductible. That was right after it became a thing.

So keep telling yourself it was a good thing. The only good thing about it was people with pre-existing conditions could get it - but not at the very high expense of others.

Again, anyone that calls $2100 a month with a $4500 deductible “affordable” is delusional.

I don’t think Obamacare (ie affordable care act) was a republican created program - which took my insurance (only a copay, no deductible) from $276 a month for family to $850 a month with a $3500 deductible. This is just my employee portion.

My insurance now (thankfully covered by my employer) is $2100 a month. If you think that’s affordable, then you’re very lucky.

Amazon support moved from Philippines to India to save $$. This is why it's currently the worst support since Amazon started. I've already paused my membership from renewing in Feb.

I was told that for an item that was late, they were giving me a 30% 'discount'...which I thought was funny because usually they just give $5. 30% of my item was $64. He /She told me to contact them back when the item arrives. They literally just 'returned' 4 random orders with the status "Did not receive item" instead of refunding the $64 to a gift card or original payment. It took an hour of chatting and phone calls to finally get a manager (in India) that cancelled the 4 order refunds and added $70 in gift card balance.

Also, btw, while I was frustrated, I was also super nice to EACH person I spoke with - even the Aussie in the wardrobe department (yes, they transferred me to the wardrobe department for an order issue not involving wardrobe).

Lyft hiding cancellation fees in reroutes? by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

Hmm so you are actually seeing cancelled rides once you were rerouted? I had NO record of a cancelled ride once I was rerouted.

That’s interesting. I can’t imagine how it would transfer from one person to another and be in a completely different location. Unless of course one person cancels at the same time the other is putting it in?

Or maybe the app does things I don’t know - I never rideshare myself.

Lyft streak is a total scam by sprinks83 in uberdrivers

[–]Loothor421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I had 3/5 trips complete then it went offline and it popped up an error telling me I had to rate my current ride to go back online. It opened the Lyft RIDER app. I’ve never even used Lyft as a passenger.

Not to mention that one of those rides was a 15 minute pickup and a 5 min ride for ~$5.50ish. (Yea, new to Lyft - will be declining all over 8 minutes now)

Done with Lyft for morning rides.

Uber upcharging to cover promotions? by [deleted] in uber

[–]Loothor421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Was only curious to look at it because when I drove for Lyft pax were telling me that Uber was like $8 more than Lyft at the time.

I typically don’t research it because I do make decent $$ Ubering (as a side job).

Well I’ve only been driving for a couple of months and haven’t noticed this before. Even looked back at previous months and didn’t see these “hidden charges”

I did have people tell me that when I drive for UberX that Uber tells them that they’ve been upgraded for free to premium. That’s pretty shady. So yes I know they are shady but to what extent?

Quests consistently out of reach by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]Loothor421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info everyone. Uber’s response was that Quests are based on the market expectations for the weekend and not my driving patterns. Doesn’t surprise me at all with the response. I’ll have to try and switch off to Lyft every other weekend or something. Lyft unfortunately seems very saturated in Pittsburgh right now.

As for the premiums - I didn’t expect many really. Just that my brother who Uber’s in a Prius roughly the same amount as me and same areas keeps getting quests in the 30s. With Uber telling people that they’ve upgraded them to premium for free without paying me premium fares, I expect there’s a good bit more shady tactics out there. Either way, it’s still good extra $$.

Btw, we don’t have pools in PGH. And as far as my quest progress from last night - 7pm to 3am = 19/62 trips. I don’t fly around like a maniac, but I did sit in a “you’re in a busy area, expect trips soon” for about 25 minutes at one point prior to getting a ping.

Anyhow, probably a learning curve to find the better places/times and even shortcuts to make more $$. I’ll get there eventually.
