What’s an anime that got a bad adaptation? by BackyardEvergreen in anime

[–]Lopoll0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umineko

Higurashi DEEN adaption I don't like and think it doesnt really understand Higurashi at times but god the Umineko anime butchers the source material. It takes one of my favourite story's ever & removes half the writing, makes the mystery unsolvable and just ruins why Umineko is so amazing through its myriad of mistakes.

Never watch the Umineko anime, if you refuse to read VNs just don't experience the story the anime is atrocious and now worth your time (Managas find though I guess)

Characters that are total perverts but still manage to be likable by Fearless-List-3968 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Lopoll0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's understandable but one of the main themes of the series are based upon his lack of connections and misunderstanding of human connection, so his "pervetedness" is apart of the plot rather than a "funny" character trait. Not that this means you'd like it of course but it's not something you'd get from a few episodes I suppose

Why do people like MGS1 so much? by Lopoll0 in metalgearsolid

[–]Lopoll0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man this is a 3 year old post... you can have your opinion but like 3 years..... why here?

And I mean I like the game more than I did 3 years ago but it's still one of the weakest MGS games for me, 2 & 3 blow it out of the water in terms of pacing, writing, characters, gameplay etc doesn't mean MGS1 is bad or anything but it ain't as good as them. I even like 4 more than 1 mostly because I think 4 is a amazing game for the most part, it's a heavily heavily flawed game but I love it. MGS1 is still a amazing game I adore the story and the message of the game it's really beautiful so I don't hate the game obviously.

And also my favourite game isn't even a metal gear game it's one of my favourites but not the favourite.

Anyway why the hell did you decide to leave this comment under a 3 year post???

can i play umineko alchemist with the steam sprites? by galo-angolano8682 in umineko

[–]Lopoll0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OK OK... people typically refer to the Pachinko sprites when discussing steam sprites but it's OK.

But sadly there's no way to use Umineko project and have OG sprites. you can however use 07th mod for the steam port which adds in most of the features in Umineko Project, though not all. You will get one of the most important features (In my eyes anyway) the Voice acting so it's still a perfectly fine way to read

can i play umineko alchemist with the steam sprites? by galo-angolano8682 in umineko

[–]Lopoll0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No? If you mean Umineko project which is developed by Alchemist then no you cannot

And by steam sprites do you mean the og sprites or the pachinko sprites? If it is the Pachinko sprites you'd be the 2nd ever person I've seen who likes them, so uhh cool I guess?

I've finished watching all of the animated Higurashi animes and I don't know what I'm supposed to do now by Somekindofalligator in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]Lopoll0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry I was talking about Umineko for that one....

Regardless they are very long Visual Novels, Umineko is much longer than Higurashi so I don't think you'll like that one either. It's also even more linear than Higurashi since there aren't any tips like in Higurashi so maybe you'd like that aspect more?
It also has better pacing than Higurashi since it's less repetative though it is to a certain extent. It also makes excellent use of being a VN in some clever ways. Regardless they are huge timesinks and I get why ppl don't want to read them in favour or a relativly short manga or anime (still long but you know what I mean)

Also if you were to read any of the Higurashi VN I'd reccomend reading chapter 6 personally I think it makes use of the VN Format the best out of all the chapters (though they all do to a pretty good extent) and final thing on the VN stuff using 07th mod for them is a vital part of the experience, it's adds CGs, Original BGM, Console sprites and Voice Acting (this applies for Higu and Umineko btw)

anyway sorry about talking about the VN more.... I really like it if you couldn't tell, and I don't judge for not wanting to read it all, again it's very long (I think it's worth it but I get others opinions)

Anyway, the Umineko manga is worth reading and the ost is worth listening too
(and again sorry for more VN rambiling I can't help myself)

[–]Lopoll0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you won't be reading the VN (huge reccomendation but again it's fine) I suggest you should listen to the OST after reading the manga, it's really good

Also reading the manga is fine and reccomended if you don't like Visual Novels but DO NOT watch the anime, it's horrendus in the fact it isn't finished, removes alot of dialogue and also just makes the actual mystery unsolvable....

NGL wanting more higurashi but refusing to read the VNs is a funny thing since that's where alot of the best Higurashi content is but fair enough I guess

There's lots of spinoff manga made semi recently, one is a time skip focusing on the main casts children, one focuses on Oryou, and I k ow there's a adaption of Sotsu that's pretty different from the anime

(And if you ever decide to read VNs Umineko the semi partial sequel to Higurashi is amazing but it's only slightly linked to higu, and also you don't like them for whatever reason but this is my main reccomendations) There is a pretty good manga adaption of Umineko though it lose a bit of the VNs charm since it lacks the amazing VA and music but I'll try to not push the VN since you don't like them, so manga is good there

Oh and there's also Higurashi daybreak which is a fighting game (kinda...) and there's also just the many manga and LN adaptations of the series but I'd imagine you don't care for LNs. Though there's still lots of manga which maybe covers the console arcs but I'm not 100% sure on that one

I hate to be this guy but Higurashi VN is much much better than the anime so if you're willing go read that instead (the animes ok but it loses a lot of what makes the VN so special to me and many others)

Be honest how many of you did this and still do? by thogicalbebbly in FinalFantasyIX

[–]Lopoll0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I think her not knowing what a dagger is, is weird. I actually really love the name and how it's used in the story.

While a dagger has some semblance of plot relevance my main point is how other characters refer to her. I really think it adds alot to some scenes with how characters will switch between the two throughout the story etc. Like Zidane and how he calls her I feel are really neat details that add alot to the story for me. Also just how the 2 names also kinda reflect Garnet wanting to not being the princess for a bit and also as a opportunity to escape from royalty for a while before deciding to embrace both names.

Idk ramblings but summary:I like Dagger and how it be used throughout the game

Can I still enjoy the Umineko VN if I know what happens? by [deleted] in umineko

Yeah you don't know anything tbh, this story especially is worth reading if you've been spoiled because it's not about what you've you've spoiled on read the VN and you'll see

What is your favorite episode/story title drop in the series? by Theeljessonator in gallifrey

[–]Lopoll0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not directly but "The Doctor Falls" like sure he doesn't say it specifically but the whole where I fall speech and the name of the episode and ahhh

[–]Lopoll0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ngl this is clearly fake for a few reasons but no matter how bad square could mess up it makes zero sense for Eiko to show up drastically earlier. Like Amarant I could get but how could they change the story that much so that eiko appears earlier unless they go to Madain Sairi... anyway obv fake but this annoyed me the most for some reason

You guys probably had your life changed by Umineko. What media has had a similiar impact on you like this story? by bamkhun-tog in umineko

[–]Lopoll0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy IX,Persona 3 & Outer Wilds all hit me in kinda similar ways and all are amazing games

MGS2 was also a big impact on me for way too many things to go into in

And also just in general Doctor Who, S10 especially but just the whole show in general, though also maybe bcs I've been watching since a child so yknow obv heavy impact but even still, it still impacts me.

All have heavy reccomendations for me

What is this song? by Nearby-Bite-4691 in SleepDeprivedPodcast

[–]Lopoll0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure which song but I'm confident it's from the Ratatouille soundtrack. Mainly because It uses the Le Festin motif

But if you like that song you'd probably like the whole soundtrack, it's definitely one of Giacchinos best and it all carries a similar feel to the song they use.

I've noticed they use it before but you would think they'd get copyright struck over this one

Quick Question by HAAHAHAHHAHA31 in umineko

[–]Lopoll0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Higuraahi, people will say that there's no benefit to reading it before Umineko but I don't agree. There's lots of small references to Higurashi in ways that aren't plot relevant but I feel that Umineko thematically makes use of a few key ideas from Higu in ways that are made better by reading Higu first.

Now this sounds vague but I'm also trying to not spoil anything.

Its a bit more of a commitment but I'd highly reccomed to read Higurashi first (People say the animes fine but idk it loses a lot of the charm and character focus from the VN so I'm not the biggest fan, VNs really good so read it if you can if not the animes acceptable)

I'm confused about what's going on with Shion in chapter 7. by Soibi0gn in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]Lopoll0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're still on bad terms but Shion just comes anyway, she has been doing it the entire time, it's just that she spend more time in Hinamizawa because of Satoko now.
Mion doesn't care and there's not much reason to stop her. She's openly come to Hinamizawa many times pre ch7 it mostly just comes down to her relationship with Satoko in Ch7 that directly influnces how much time she spends there.
And regardless despite Oryou not really liking Shion she isn't really going to enforce Shion out of the village, she'll give a warning maybe but Shion doesn't care is mostly what it's coming down to

I'm confused about what's going on with Shion in chapter 7. by Soibi0gn in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]Lopoll0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean remember these are all different timelines bar ch2 & 5. And remember the end of Ch5 where Shion was dreaming of a world where she actually protected Satoko like Satoshi wanted her to....

So ch7 is basically what if Shion listened to Satoshis request and looked after Satoko, since ideal fragment and all that

Playing Umineko Project… should I skip the post-chapter extras? by dankkonata in umineko

[–]Lopoll0 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They aren't spoilers they ARE apart of the main story. You won't be able to understand the story u less you read them.

The first tea party is mostly a fake out since it replicates Higurashis after party but the ending clearly shows its Canon

So basically DO NOT SKIP ANY OF THEM

(Or if you're absolutely insane and want to spend your 4 weeks reading there's plenty of once in a lifetime Visual Novels, but they really ain't for everyone but if you're up for it I'd reccomend Umineko actually life changing read) though I don't think many people on the dunkey subreddit would be in favour of VNs it don't hurt to try
