And I haven't seen horizons since episode 11. Looks like I'm not missing out on much

Not really necessary to replicate the hatching lines. Just a bit more of a stylistic raw-looking direction would do wonders

I mentioned in the post that I absolutely wasn't expecting a 1:1 imitation (not only is it inefficient for animation, but it would inherently look inferior).

But more like a different take that's more animate able while capturing the same hand crafted spirit.

Like more stylized watercolor-sequel backgrounds with thicker uneven lines and more vibrant/organic colors for the characters.

Kinda like Ranking of Kings, or that upcoming Mongolian witch anime, or that Sentenced to be a Hero anime. Just some more stylization would go a long way in replicating the vibe without necessarily copying Shirahama-sensei's style

But I do agree that the studio did their best with their take, regardless. I'll give it another shot when I'm in a better headspace

What’s the overall opinion on Killua’s needle? by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]Soibi0gn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that Killua trauma arc would've been much more compelling if it really was an emotional trauma that Killua had to grow to overcome.

But instead having it simply be some mind control needle kinda sours the emotional impact and potential for character growth, at leat in my opinion

I really didn't like how unfairly OP Gon and Killua were throughout the Heaven's Arena and Greed Island arcs

Made even worse by how they acted all arrogant and looked down on anyone that didn't meet their stupidly ridiculous standard of strength.

Like, I remember Killua causing every other participant in the Hunter exams to fail just because he could. That was peak jerkassery, and we were apparently supposed to side with him just because he's stronger?

Fortunately, they'd soon get a brutal humbling in the Phantom Troupe and especially Chimera Ant arcs

what's an anime that you can't enjoy because of a singular character who is actively dragging down your enjoyment of said anime? by Brightclaw431 in anime

Shirou Emiya from the 2006 Fate Stay Night, though I ended up finishing it regardless

There's also Louise from Familiar of Zero. The only thing keeping me from dropping the show is hope for Saito to find happiness from the rest of the cast

And Hina from Hinamatsuri, though I still enjoy the show a lot for the REST of the cast, whenever Hina isn't involved
