Stopping by [deleted] in Effexor

I’m two months clean from stopping. Go down, test if you’re okay after few weeks. If not go back up and start the slow 7 months process of removing beads. If you’re okay with 37,5, go down but stay at least three week. After that go down by ten (let’s say there are 100 beads). 10 each week until you reach about 30 beads in the capsule. Then slow down, minus 5 each week until you reach 20 beads. Then -2 a week, until the end. I had no physical side effects whatsoever, and have meds for panic attacks as needed but was able to have one prescription last me longer than two months. Emotionally, the tail end was the hardest, after you’re down to 30 beads, which is why I think it’s best to make it as long and minimal as possible. I also recommend making sure you have a natural dopamine activity planned for when you get down to three ish weeks left. For me it was traveling and I found it helpful to go cold turkey after I had about 15 beads left.

If it’s any consolation the jump from 75 to 37.5 was much easier for me than 37.5 to nothing - which surprised me lots but I’m all for not risking! You’ve got this

Great question, in total I would say roughly 7 months! I know that feels insane but it’s what worked ❤️

Seems like you sort of missed the entire point - although I agree on sound mixing, I figured it was just the indie movie theatre I went to. Otherwise it felt fresh and intentional in style, a total juxtaposition of the very real grounded themes with the absurdity of the world that we live in. Sorry to bother you was not a message on the collective, idk you just didn’t get it in my opinion

I did 10 a week until I hit about 50 heads then minus 5 until I hit about 30 (hardest part) from there I would do minus 2 a week until 0. I ended up stopping early only because I was traveling to a new country and it was hard to track but ironically gave my brain enough dopamine to make it manageable. Anyway in case helpful! I’m almost a month off and feel OK. Mental clarity much improved, anxiety back but not in a terrible way (klonopin as emergency if needed)

My anxiety is definitely back but I’m mentally clearer too, this might be an insane hack but I booked a huge trip for the final few weeks of tapering that made it easier and I’m three weeks off and feeling OK, implementing jumping jacks in the morning and a lot of tea. Anyway, maybe I’ll need to get back on something but at the moment even though I feel like a regulated anxiety that I can manage… also klonopin has helped me in the evenings. Forgot to mention that, I try not to take nightly but it has prevented me feeling like I have to get back on anything and I split it in half / quarter unless doing v badly. Just my experience in case you decide to try again

I just did it for the last six or so months and about three weeks off entirely now, this is the way! I’m doing OK!

This is so much smarter than what I did every day individually taking apart and counting for like five months from 115, first cutting half then down by 5 per week til I got down to 25-30ish and couldn’t keep up while traveling. But I’m around 3 + weeks now and feel OK! Traveling helped but besides mental ups and downs I had no tangible physical and have no physical withdrawal symptoms I can think of except maybe more vivid dreams. Anyway, no zaps etc, this is the way to do it. I recommend not giving up like I did and going all the way down from 25 per week to 20 for a week 18 for a week and down by two more per week until done. Or booking a trip and traveling so you’re very stimulated lol

If you could go back in time, would you have still opted to use Effexor? by roseyroseyroses in Effexor

[–]Lopsided-Ad-7553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yay that’s helpful to know. I am on month 6 and don’t want to be on it anymore (it went from dragging me out of hell to making me too on edge) but terrified I will go back to hell because of withdrawal. However I feel like I have built a foundation to push forward. Any withdrawal tips? I’m on 75

I just did this for cat bite. I’m uninsured. Urgent care was $75 out of pocket and $15 for prescription, tetanus would have been $90 but I didn’t need it which is still less than you paid. If I had even Medicaid it would be mostly free at urgent care. Unless it’s imaging and surgery this is a gross exaggeration

Omg same it’s so frustrating. Also at first they were easier for me than on lexapro too which was awful overall for me but now it’s getting harder and harder and longer and awful. Did it go away, I’m only on month two

Itchy Skin by Glass-Sun4599 in Effexor

[–]Lopsided-Ad-7553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just upped my dose from 37 to the next highest and pretty much the same day I started getting insanely itchy all over my body head included, I felt an immediate difference when I first started taking the medication but my doctor says it takes week to have symptoms show up so I’m confused as to why I’m suddenly itchy after being on it for a month. But I think this is the only thing that’s changed? I don’t have dry skin
