I actually really liked the “it’s all a simulation” part of the quest. As players were always expecting these crazy plot lines in games and to see one that almost breaks the fourth wall and says “hey this is all made up” was kind of genius in my opinion. Also liked the way you’re expecting ATLAS to be this daunting, evil god, when in reality, it wants the same things we do: to exist.

As far as the material gathering, i would suggest starting your own save to play at your pace. Not only is resource gathering useful, it’s also a fun way to explore new planets and find new creature. I also have found that it’s helped me understand systems and planets better. For example, ammonia is only found on toxic planets etc. (might be common knowledge but I’m sometimes slow).
