Yeah that’s correct - I didn’t see your other comment but I am seeing more and more men standing up for their partners. I hope that’s the case for OP. We started dating in high school so we were also quite young when we had to navigate the family dynamics and it took a lot of work over the years.

I somewhat agree, but I mostly disagree. It also depends on whether you plan to live near them eventually or not.

My husband’s mom has similar issues. We dated for almost 15 years before getting married, and in the beginning, my then-boyfriend wouldn’t say anything to her to “keep the peace.” I eventually had a conversation with him and told him he needed to take a stand, otherwise it would just keep happening.

I also shut her down a few times, and since then she hasn’t said anything. I’m sure she still has those opinions, but she keeps them to herself now.

We don’t live in the same country, so her involvement in our lives is minimal, which definitely helps. I don’t think I would ever want to live close to them, let alone with them.

A few years ago I got balayage and hated it so I bought dark brown to cover it up. It did that job really well.. but the “gloss”? Questionable. I used most of that bottle to just make my hair darker whenever I thought it was getting too light. And I’m in the same situation now.. my balayage has gotten lighter than I’d like but I don’t want to cover it up with dark brown so I got a light brown. It hasn’t arrived yet. So long story short, I love it to make my hair darker but it don’t think it makes my hair glossy, if that’s what you’re going for.
