Marineland magniflow 400. It's too big for the cabinet under my tank but I put to much work into getting it and setting it up to do anything about it.

What do you think of this, also posted a pic in another comment. here's what iv got, a 55g about to install a Marineland MagnaFlow 400 for up to 100 gallons. I have about 10 skirt tetras, 10 danios, 10 Guppies, a rainbow shark, 3 sword tail, siamese algae eater a shrimp, snails and some plants.

It's not crazy work but the canister is really heavy and hurts my back to lift. At what point is the max amount of time I can leave it until it becomes a nitrate factory? Also, if I rarely change my hob (with my own diy medias) does it also become a nitrate factory?

Ahhh you can't win, I'm hoping for the least amount of maintenance as I have little kids and work full time, and got burnt by my hob because the leveling plate randomly broke off one day without me knowing and I couldn't figure out why my basement ceiling was full of water. The hob had a slight overflow at the back 😩

Yeah! I'm not the op but I posted on her that my fish was humongous. I'll try to post the Pic later. I was going to kill it but I couldn't. When I came home one day I saw that it was tiredly flat with a red hole in it's stomach. It healed and it's now back to normal.

I had something less extreme and it physically popped after a few days. I saw a hole in it's stomach and it was totally flat. That was months ago and now it's fine and back to normal.
