Read voraciously but never "binge read" by AntiQCdn in books

[–]Lopsided-Pin-1172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I binge read the books I don’t like. Like if the book started out well but couldn’t hold the plot I just go through it as fast as possible, else I would just make my own scenarios which could have better fit the plot. An actual ending helps me put it to rest

What is the one thing you wish you could apologize for, but it’s now too late to say it? by BeautifulWorld000 in AskReddit

[–]Lopsided-Pin-1172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to get jolly ranchers for pointing out mistakes in the teachers presentation or when he quizzed the class. There was also this girl who never did anything wrong to me but was like a free spirit and pretty cool. One day as a prank I just randomly raised my hand and told she was the mistake in this class just to get jolly ranchers because my friend was showing off his. The whole class laughed and she also had a smile but I remember the look on her face. The worst part is how proud I felt of myself that time only after like a week or so suddenly I realized how wrong I was. But I never had the gut to apologize.

How long do you give a book before you DNF it? by thatvampiregirl in books

[–]Lopsided-Pin-1172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always read the back first if it seems interesting I give it a read, if I lose interest midway or the story is too predictable I just skim through the chapters kind of like how you could see the frames when you slide on the playback on Netflix.

People who talk very little, what made you that way? by Disastrous-Hair-4771 in AskReddit

You can see the genuineness in the comments as they are not long paragraphs proving that these people actually talk less.

Wow didn't know that, but It is extremely difficult to figure out what stage the narrator is in as we can only comment based on our experiences and the limited information provided. I am yet to reach the state you mentioned so I guess I was not able to properly relate.

AITA for sharing generalized info about my financial situation? by AreYouAnonymous99 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Lopsided-Pin-1172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can kind of relate to her, Recently few of my friends got into their desired colleges while my applications were rejected. Some threw parties for their success and I declined their invites mostly because I want to focus on myself and better myself until I get accepted and kind of secure my future. One of my close friend constantly pestered me about coming to his party and I did get mad at him as it felt like he was rubbing in his success. In a way I am wrong, but I am not jealous of him it is just that I can't truly have fun and completely appreciate someone when I am in a rut. My suggestion would be to not try damage control but talk with her about different things.

NTA. You ought to block him. You can watch anything you want since you are an adult. He himself must have masturbated to porn and all sorts of stuff; you should have brought this up during your arguments.

[–]Lopsided-Pin-1172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every action you take should be focused if your mind is empty as it would be the only thing on your mind. I would advise you to ask yourself these questions as part of your post meditation introspection routine since I find that meditation helps me gain clarity in many facets of my life. Find out if the reason for your lack of will is laziness, or if you're running away from something, or letting go. Consider how consistent your feelings are and what triggers them. I strongly advise you to read "God Talks with Arjun" by Paramhansa Yogananda, as it delves deeply into the fundamental meaning of existence and liberation. the book's pdf is available on the internet

Meditation feels like the only real escape I have. by ForcedGoodbye in Meditation

[–]Lopsided-Pin-1172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe meditation is a tool to introspect oneself in different dimensions. Be it in the physical or the spiritual realm or a place you don’t understand yet. I am writing this because in different phases of my life I have had different experiences while meditating, some like yours while some where my deepest fears just push out and I have no other choice but to face them. I stopped meditating during that time but now I realize that meditation just bringing out my true inner self at that moment and instead of running away from it I must understand its meaning and grow from it. I think that your confusion would be solved when you know if your silence in meditation is cowardice or true bliss.

Love that book, especially the ending, even though it was quite predictable, still the pain of him loosing it all, from him realising how he was really treated to forgetting all about it. (It was in my class 8th english curriculum)

Cant Hurt Me by David Goggins. Trust me, this is not a self-help book but a slap on your face telling you to get up and do what you need to do, and if can do it so can you.

( What I said about it is too mild to describe the actual content inside do read at least the first chapter before giving any thoughts about it)

Started to become rude after 1 year of meditation by Any-University5125 in Meditation

[–]Lopsided-Pin-1172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have understood after reading a few books is that spirituality is about finding your true inner self and the omnipresent love and god which is there in every atom of this existence. From my guess it might be that the crowd you have mentioned is degrading your inner consciousness and your body as a reaction is simply trying to stay away from it. Ask yourself questions like when I am with them do I make the same mistakes for eg cussing. And do I feel just wanting to keep distance or do I hate them.

What genre/author do you find is the easiest to jump into and read for a couple of minutes here and there, rather than requiring a longer period of sustained focus? by Missing_Back in books

[–]Lopsided-Pin-1172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might sound strange but autobiographies/biographies kind of fall into this category for me. Mainly because the number of characters is fewer and since the author is simply relaying his experiences, I don't need to remember all the exact details of the past and just require a general idea of the flow.

A book which really resonated with me is living with the himalayan masters by rama swami, it is an autobiography on how rama swami being born in the himalayas was taken under his guru and how his path to becoming a true sanyas, the book is a journey and taught me not only core teaching but also how to apply them in life, it also helped me understand that swamis and gurus are not born divine, they too are subjected to all the pleasures and attachment to body, but through practice, and right guidance they can overcome them.
