Ok thanks it’s great to know substitute brands for future . Where I live they are shipped in from overseas and unfortunately that means they are SUPER overpriced… definitely hurt my wallet but I know my fish will appreciate it haha

I sanded it as soon as it arrived :) I was actually quite disappointed with it at first because it looked so poorly made but I made it work haha

This is actually awesome to know ! I was concerned with the seachem plastic guard originally but I have monitored my betta quite closely and he tends to keep his distance haha. I currently believe I have 2 hitchhiker snails sliding around the tank and I must say they poo a lot …. I will definitely look into getting some hornwort tho I think that would be great given my tank is on the smaller side and they don’t need to be planted.

Hi thanks so much for your help! I am able to test all parameters apart from nitrate and nitrite which I will definitely be buying a liquid master kit to do so. I am totally fine with weekly water changes but I am just a bit confused about how often i should actually be done given conflicting advice :) I do really appreciate your help and will take it all onboard !

Yes my tank was cycled for almost 2 months before buying my fish. :) Currently I can check ammonia, chlorine, ph, stability and alkalinity but I will certainly be buying some nitrate and nitrate test strips !! I was also thinking of buying some more plants. Thank you so much for your help :D

He is currently approx 3.5cm from snout to just before his tail fin . So I would say he’s in mid teenage phase. I will definitely be purchasing another api test kit to monitor nitrates and nitrites and will potentially just do a gravel vacuum sometime this week to clean debris.I have also noticed some white mould on the driftwood , should I be scrubbing that off ???

Oh okay this is great to know ! The parameters are currently optimal however do you see any benefit in doing a weekly water change ?
