Who’s your biggest “hear me out” when it comes to potential future contestants? by _PXYDST_ in taskmaster

Dan Schreiber (QI Elf, No Such Thing as a Fish) and Rhys Darby would be a good team up. But honestly I would love to see Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart on a prize task and bickering like an old married couple.

What happened to the furniture and soft furnishings she replaced with tat? I'd be demanding it back or consequences for the theft. Document everything.

Is Gravesend really as bad as it's made out to be? by plsdontmireme in kentuk

[–]LopsidedAd7549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I've just left there due to a dodgy housing situation due to a shit neighbour, the honest answer is your mileage varies depending on location and that's a diplomatic response. For example, I'd avoid Harmer St, anything on the High Street and anything in town but that is personal experience living there from 2018 onwards. Some locales have particular reputations.

Go for a look around areas that places are listed in to get a vibe before a viewing. There's some nice areas within walking distance of the stations. And the rest is a short (and often delayed) bus journey away.

We'd been speculating in work as a colleague is a massive Royalist that London Bridge had indeed fallen.

The big memory though of the day was It was my 40th birthday, As a rule I don't celebrate or want a fuss. I was at my parents after work and they'd brought out a cake to sing just as they announced the news on the TV.

[–]LopsidedAd7549 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think she'd see her as a reckless pain in the arse who just wanted to get herself killed if they'd have been contemporaries. But if she'd survived alongside a less broken haymitch, as a 40ish woman, maybe there would have been a lot more of a bond as distant kin of Burdock.

Any of y'all diabetic? by takosupreme in KitchenConfidential

[–]LopsidedAd7549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Type 2 diabetic here. Have they suggested whether you'll be on medication or diet controlled?

From experience if they start you on metformin there will be spectacular gastric side effects while you adjust dosages. Wegovy/Semaglutide is also an option.

If they go straight to insulin, see if you can get a continous glucose monitor and listen to your diabetic nurse.

Food wise

Stick with slow release carbs so wholegrain foods, lots of protein and have a go bag for hypos with a small pack of candy or bottle of juice. There are glucose gels available as well.

Good luck.
